--f---A- . M. ..Y...Y. Y , .,., A, Frederick 20 Lawton 8 The Wolverines emerged from their lair on the night of September 13, 1958, ready for the Frederick Bombers. With a record crowd of Lawton and Frederick specta- tors, the game began with an arching kick-off. Al- though Frederick was in possession of the ball dur- ing most of the game. Lawton's defense held solidly. -to 55 Ardmore 6 Lawton 7 The Wolverines traveled to Ardmore to take on a powerful Ardmore team on the night of September 19. The Wolverines allowed Ardmore to score on a pass play in the second quarter, When the Wolverines came out for the second half, you could see they were teeming with desire. Lawton scored and old faithful Stuart Tonemah Iimped on to the field to make the conversion kick. Lawton scored once in the first half and twice in the second half, missing all the optional points but one. Norman 6 Lawton 'I4 Norman was predicted to wholly contain Lawton throughout the course of the game. At the end of the half, Lawton had gained only 9 yards to Norman's 82. The second half brought Lawton on the field to drive successfully twice. This brought the score to 14-6 Lawton. Thps Lawton defeated Norman and became the number one team in the Boomer Conference. Kapoun 14 Lawton 36 Kapaun was not able to break Lawton's stride to- ward a victorious home game. Lawton's aggressive- ness paid off in a touchdown and before Kapaun could compose themselves, the Wolverines had an 3-6 lead at the half. Half time Ceremonies saw Carol Arnold crowned as Lawton's 1959 grid queen. The second half saw the Wolverines march on several long drives and the game ended 36-14 Lawton. 122 FOOT Chickasha '12 Lawton 22 Lawton's first half was not one to be praised. As always Law- ton's second half was one of team unity and hard play with the fuel of determination which is present in all Lawton teams. Through all this effort and drive, Lawton saw a clear field to victory. Enid 14 Lawton 42 Hoping to extend their number of victories to 8, Lawton journeyed to Enid. The Wolverines were too much for the Plainsmen. Enid could not hold back Lawton's power and Lawton forged ahead early in the game. Lawton kept rolling throughout the second half and the game ended with Lawton victorious. i 4 l l I l l I l
