DEDICATION The dedication of this book is a small thing in itself, but we hope that it may serve as a continuing reminder of the gratitude, respect and friendship we owe to a man Who has devoted his life to the Classical for the benefit of the modern, .1 man whose standard of scholarship has been both profound and human.
