' . • ' . -V ' r-- :-;..:v::-:x. • ' •; - ' . 5. The Varsity (until this year known as the Monogram Club) activities produce sprains, strains, broken bones, scratches, bruises and black eyes. These marks of honor won for the glory of old L. H. S. make the heroes of the school, and the student body is proud of its brave contestants. 4-H’ers learn to use and not abuse hands and heart, head and health, knowing that in them is found a wealth of work and love of knowledge and vim. We spend our time making our money to feed our fellow Hi-Y members and they spend their money to entertain us. Indeed there is a spirit of splendid co-opera- ccfK tion between the Hi-Y and the Tri-Hi-Y. Joking aside we’ve worked to carry out our ■ ' .jt;: platform of Clean Speech, Clean Sportsmanship, Clean Scholarship and Clean Living, and as usual the boys do even a better job than we. The Beta Club is supposed to be the smart folks circle, but lots of ’de brains in the ring just don’t act. Brother, they hate to study and lessons kill ’em! But that’s beside the point — the twenty-three buzzing bees who think they have the brains in the upper deck managed to get in the circle and they have Beta pins to prove it. ■;;TlLv ' ;;;‘ ' , ' 5’r 4 All Gaul is divided into three parts and the Sosolitas Latinae has plenty of gall judging from those posters the new members wore on their backs for initiation. Those daring people who undertake to dig into a dead language, made known to the people everything from kiss me to kick . The ’’club of Latin Students” is a real gone club. Hie! (haec! hoc!) Books are friends, never gossiping, never angry, never unkind, always ready to teach, to entertain and to help. Our hats off to those of the Library Club who take care of our loyal comrades. The way to a man’s eyes is through attractive dress and figure — the w ' ay to a man’s heart is through his stomach — the way to a man’s contentment is through a well-kept home. Girls, take Home Ec! Upon the farmer depends the future success and welfare of the nation. Upon our y future farmers depend the future of many of the L. H. S. girls. Busy as ants, scurring hither and thither, are the D. O. students. We suppose ’the ants accomplish something; we know that the D. O.’s do. They believe, too, Lk: :e yLk;-; although work is a good diet, work and play is a better one. Golly, have you ever. . . attended one of the D. O. shindigs and watched Mr. Witten give a dance fanta.sy? -
