They won four of the eight meets in which they participated. TIGERS Harry Gompf, Jim Sturgeon, Larry Works, and E he Tom Mauro, broke the Con- ference mile-relay record of 3:46.5, set in I94O, and estab- lished a new record of 3:42.5. These THINCLADS also jour- neyed to the State Regional Track Meet at Indianapolis in which the mile-relay team placed fourth, and Jim Sturgeon placed fifth in the 440. Under the helm of Coach Pat O'NeiII, the TIGERS won their last three games and finished the season with a vic- tory over Aurora. The TIGERS' record, six wins and four losses, does not tell the whole story, although it is a commendable one. The TIGERS finished with this record despite the fact that there was only one senior on the team, the bulk of the team being made up by under- classmen. The boys are anx- iously looking forward to the '58 season. I mf 1:9234 f X. vw' I 7 Hit the dirt, Mac ! TI-IETIG-EIZNIN KNEELING, LEFT TO RIGHT: G. Ferry, J. Farmer , A. McAClams', R. WiIson , B. They stimulated a more enthusi- astic interest in dramatics throughout the school. The troupe offered freshman and sophomore 1,-si students an opportunity to gain acting exper- ience by presenting one-act plays in which quite a number of underclassmen were awarded parts. These plays were presented in assembly to the faculty and students. The casts learned the basic techniques of acting which were taught to them by the student directors. As a result, the school can look forward to even better class plays in years to come. Heading the 1958 Thespian Troupe No. 45 are: LEFT TO RIGHT: Linda Klepper, Sec. The Rising Sun Shiners ruined the debut of the 1957-58 TIGER team by handing them a 41-39 overtime loss. Versailles then edged the TIGERS, 52-47, despite Sturgeon's ex- cellent play. Powerful Madison rallied in the final quarter to beat the TIGERS, 70-54, and arch-rival Aurora followed suite with a close, 49-45, win in the traditional Thanksgiving- eve game. The TIGERS then journeyed to Scottsburg only to lose to the Warriors, 47- 44, in the last 14 seconds. Undefeated Brookville came to town and edged the TIGERS in an exciting 42-40 overtime victory. The Milan Indians then defeated the TIGERS, 49- 44, despite Senitza's 15 points. The tide turned as Works tallied 22 points to pace the TIGERS in a 63-47 routing of Batesville. An excellent team effort gave the TIGERS a 49- 43 victory in a return engagement with Aurora. Works' 21 points helped the TIGERS sub- due North Vernon, 49-36, for their third win in a row. The TIGERS then traveled to Conners- ville but lost, 57-54, despite Works' 21 points. Works' 25 points gave the TIGERS another victory over Batesville, 48-31, but Hagers- town took home a 50-46 conference win de- spite Dawson's 16 points. Senitza's 21 points paced the TIGERS to an impressive 67-48 victory over Taylor, and winless Greensburg became another victim of the TIGERS, 60-41. The rugged Rushville Lions defeated the TIGERS, 64-44, but, a well-balanced scoring attack, Brown, 13, Works and Ernest, 12, carried them to a 59-41 victory of Cambridge City in their final conference contest. The TIGERS lost their final game as Madison rallied in the last quarter to win, 54-48. The TIGERS should be commended for the spirit and hustle they showed during the season, enabling them to become a strong sectional contender. B MEMORIES LAST GOODBYEQ Well, I guess it's iust about that time. l hate to say goodbye and leave these halls. We've had so much funI Seems like only yesterday that we were green' freshmen. It doesn't seem like four years, does it? No, why I can still remember how nervous I was when I played my first basket- ball game . l know what you mean. I had butterflies when I tried out for cheerleading. All those kids watching you. But we made so many friends, we soon got over that. Just think, soon we'll all go our sep- arate ways and hardly ever see our old gang all together again. No more bull sessions at Greeks, no more trips to Papa Gino's after the games. Nothing will ever be as much fun as decorating for the prom. Don't forget the senior trip. Washington will never be the samel Man, we had a ball on that train. Drove that poor conductor crazyI I'll never forget when you were caught skipping school. Six hours' detention I Huh, you weren't such an angel your- selfl Your face turned awfully red when the teacher caught you passing that note in study hall l It wasn't my fault! How was I supposed to know he was looking? You know, it'Il seem funny not having to dash to any meetings or bone -up for exams ln a way, I think I'II kind of miss it. Its been a great four years, alright. Yes, I'll never forget it.
