I-Iad he stopped to peek in the windows, he would have seen the Ariel staff working diligently with typewriters and glue pots to meet a series of deadlines. There were many moments when the smiling faces on these pages were creased with frowns of worry. Where are my pictures? Where is my copy? the Arielmen would yell. Issue rolls off the presses, dis- tributed Friday . . . A sigh of relief? . . . No, the whole merry circle begins again with the editorial board meeting Friday noon and the assigning of stories over the weekend. With frightening regu- larity the deadlines came up, but the whole staff survived and with some highly successful issues to its credit. Editor-in-chief Helen Casper, ably assisted by managing editor George Kreiling and later by Judy Dixon, steered the paper through a maze of issues on cars, laundry, and convos. Kay Bayer as busi- ness manager assisted by john Dyrud handled the ledgers, keeping the advertisers happy and the paper solvent.
