EXECUTIVE CCDMMITTEE Page Q0 F' R : B , B ' t, Olsen, Puth, l-lerold SgEbndVlSovvTrT2Slly, BeerlTiTlllBadford, Gage, Murphy Third Row: Barton, l-lesselman, Damman, Wilch, Bleick, Forbush, Schumann Lavvrence's student government is made up ol the student body president and the executive committee which represents various organizations on campus. Each sorority, fraternity and independent group elects one ol their members to this committee. They attend meetings, discuss current college problems, go to their respective groups to get their viewpoints and return to vote on any and all issues. ln this way all students are lcept in close contact with their government and the measures tal4en by the governing body are representative ol the majority. This year a new problem arose because ol the V-TQ unit here at l.avvrence. The popular feeling was that they should have an equal representation on the executive committee as they vvere to tal4e an active part in all the activities of the college. Many sailors are members ol fraternities not on the campus and many are not atliliated. To give them a voice in their government, it was decided that they should elect three men to the executive committee. Some ol the duties ol the committee include the election of a vice-president, secretary and treasurer from its immediate group and ol chairmen ol the social, pep, rules, homecoming, union and convocation committees from the entire student body. It malces nominations lor the all-college judicial board and evolves the yearly budget. lts legislative duties lceep the committee an active one throughout the year.
