Pass with the instep, deflect with the head, catch with the chest, control with the knee, trap with the heel; unnatural motions requiring repeated practice to master. Field hockey doesn ' t appeal to many, for it lacks glory. But the field hockey player knows the feeling of sharp fall air, grasp of the wooden stick, freedom of running. These blend into her subconscious, as she concentrates on the stick-to-stick fights, breathing, and keeping her legs in motion.
