If there is one sport that epitomizes physical struggle at LHS, it must be football. Under its festive exterior of blaring bands, cheering fans, marching girls, and bouncy cheerleaders, the thud in the half-back ' s belly as the linebacker ' s helmet meets its mark is barely heard. Whether it be a fifty yard pass or a two-yard run, the sound of clashing helmets and bodies remains the same. A heartbreaking early season loss to Bourne ruined hopes of a third straight Capeway conference championship. The disheartened Clippers rode out the season to a 5-3 record, good for a third place tie in a tough league. 21

Field hockey doesn ' t appeal to many, for it lacks glory. But the field hockey player knows the feeling of sharp fall air, grasp of the wooden stick, freedom of running. These blend into her subconscious, as she concentrates on the stick-to-stick fights, breathing, and keeping her legs in motion.
