Each group of the eighth grade has a science club organized for the purpose of gaining a better understanding of science principles. There is a meeting every two weeks. The dues are five cents apiece at each meeting. We have collected about twelve dollars, so far, and have spent three for a science kit. Part of each club meeting is devoted to business. We have a program committee, headed by the vice-president, to prepare something for the latter part of the meeting. We have reports and quizzes and have done some experiments, mostly on magnetism. Some examples: we have found out what materials are attracted by magnets, and how magnets attract and repel each other. They were Claire Begin, Jean Gilbert, Dorothy Herard, Lawrence Leary, Maurice Paradis, Evalyn Peggs, Pene- lope Peggs, and David Williams. On March 21, we presented our annual Hit Parade. The program was opened with selections by the Orchestra and Glee Club, accompanied by Elaine Taber. The Hit Parade consisted of popular hit tunes in varied arrangements by soloists and the Chorus. The Lawrence Highlighters made their first appearance at this program. This group consisted of some of our very talented boys We were very fortunate to have one of our neva members, Gallene Emery, make very attractive decorations for the stage We plan to attend the Eastern Maine Music Festlw al, which is 111 be held at Orono, May 17 GLEE CLUB First Row G Knights J Dionne M Ferland Fuller D Herard Rogers C Be in E Taber IN DesVeaux I Broun L Provost Second Row Mrs Smith J Marcia D McAllister B Nimon D Donahue J Philbrick I Grant G Herard J Gilbert M Bishop B Sears C Ribertson St Amand M Pellenn M W lquist J Turmclle S Cook E Thibodeau P Gogan A Stuck an Fourth Row D Wheelock A Carter A joler M Blodgett G Emery V .Blodgett M Mosher E Peggs C Broun Beckwith W Shields j Grant D Orchard C OBlemis Fifth Row W Marquis C Williams A Emery G Blodgett N Nelson L Leary F Wood Poulin R McFarland D Williams R Rome- M Paradis N Bouffard R Smith E Grant F XX'e-stun 49 ' 'z - V .
