They feel that they are bemg abused when thelr parents force them to contlnue thexr school work What would these students do xf th 3, were allowed to leave? They would be too young to flnd work that would bung them very hxgh wages and nme tlmes out of ten they would not find anv work but would x ? utgaz l u 1 llll We cannot be too grateful to the class of 28 for its generoslty ln glvmg to the school the new footlxghts and to the Athletlc As soclatlon a large sum of money Thls class has establlshed a fine precedent for future gxaduatmg classes to follow Ll When the present hugh school bulldmg was constructed a place was planned 1n each room for an automatlc clock and a telephone The Vlflflllg was done but the clocks and telephones have never been pur chased because of lack of money How IS the necessary money to be secured? W1ll someone make a suggc-stron? Page Two stay at home and do nothmg whereas f they were at school they would be pavmg a way for thelr careers The students who leave school w1ll regret lt IH later years They wxll look back many tlmes and wlsh that they had been Wlbe enough to take the opportunlty to go to school when they had lt They may have secured what at the tlme they consldered good Jobs but the chance for advancement was much smaller than lf thelr educatxon was more complete If the school work seems hard, they should stlck to lt When they have won they have somethlng to be proud of but lf they qult before they even try they are not gxvmg themselves a falr chance Most students are WISE enough, or at least thelr parents are to value a good educatlon Whether the goal IS a college degree or only a hlgh school diploma they will new er regret the tlme spent IH reachlng G LT in .. , ,.. ll! THE LAWRENCE LYRE w1th students, parents and frlends The freshmen were dxstmgulshed from the other students durmg the evenmg bv a tag Thls tag was made 1n a dunce cap shape of green paper wlth 32 1n brlght red on the tag The tags were put on the freshmen before the program began Flrst the freshmen were taken down the recelvlng l1ne whlch conslsted of the mem bers of the school board the school faculty and the presldents of the four classes The stunts came next and they proved to be lnterestlng to every one present They were performed by the freshmen and we must say they took thexr parts well and proved to be very good sports Flrst was a baby carrlage rlde glven to Stuart Rob ertson by Helen Woodman A roller skate stunt was performed by Harvey Cotta Then there were several races two of whlch were the cracker and the potato races A number of the freshmen took part ln these Everybody enJoyed thls short pro Games were enjoyed after the stunts Muslc was furnished by part of our school orchestra Durmg mtermxsslon refresh ments were served by the sophomore class At a late hour everyone started for home and each was saymg that he had enjoyed the evenlng very much The senlors were ln charge of this event and wlth the ald of the sophomore and Jumor classes It proved to be very success ful Much of the credlt IS due Ruth Odlln and the members of her commlttee Helen Cralg Florence York Laura Maxwell Eve lyn Wyman Carl Ackley, and Chester Bas ford L..T FRESHMAN CL ASS L..
