CUSTODIANS 8: CAFETERIA STAFF UPS AND DOWNS My Job, like mst other jobs Is plagued by ups and downs. Yes, there are serious-minded students: And then, there are the clowns. I strive to stay one step ahead, But often it's a losing race, 'I'here's candy wrapper, lollipop sticks, And grafitti all over the place. Did you ever stroll into a classroan? Checking all nonsense at the door, Placed your books upon die desk top, That pranptly fell upon the floor. Did you ever hurry into die restroun? Been repulsed by the rressy sink? Held your breath throughout your visit? Couldn't stand the snokinq stink? Kids puffing away on Winston's Discarded boxes of Sli1n's and Kool's. Smoking should never have been permitted, In any of our public schools. Then, there's the other side of the coin, It's not all as bad as it seems. Time spent with dedicated kids, Sharing their hopes and dreams. I've made some lasting friendships, And I cherish than one and all. It's good to receive dfieir letters, And I'm ecstatic when they call. Well, so much for my day dreaming, And back to the facts at hand. Please out down on your destruction, And ease up on this old man. Yes, it's a beautiful day in the rmrning, But I'll bet my last two bits, Check out the girl's rom in the P.M., You'l1 go fran shock to convulsive fits.
