OFFICE FRIENDS Our warmest wishes and most sincere thanks go to the least recognized though certainly not the least appreciated group of individuals in the school. The office secretaries, Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Mendonsa, never fail to fulfill our every need. Mrs. Choquette is well known to college-bound seniors for whom she is indeed a great asset in filling out transcripts and applications. Mr. Cain keeps careful track of absentees and truants, while Mrs. Batts, our highly qualified nurse, is ready with a cure for our everyday ailments. Mr. Pete Dominico, of course, is known to everyone. Though in great demand, he is always ready and willing to help whenever called upon. For your un¬ selfish and gallant efforts, the class of 1974 says “Thanks”. Peter Dominico Margaret Choquette

ENGLISH This year the English Department has added a new re¬ quirement which makes this language art more interesting for teachers and students alike. Public Speaking is no long¬ er a separate class on the senior’s curriculum. Since Miss Shine has retired, it is now included as part of the English class. One class per week is now devoted to teaching stu¬ dents the various facets of speaking in front of people. New semester courses in English have also been added. Among these are classes in Sports, Edgar Allan Poe, Sci¬ ence Fiction, and Reading Odyssey. Seniors who find these courses more interesting than a regular English course have the choice of taking any of them. Besides these half-semes¬ ter courses, our English Department also supplies us with honors, standard, academic, and basic English courses. The English Department is trying its best to help students pre¬ pare themselves for any career after high school. Julia McCarthy Radcliffe College A.B. Fitchburg State College M.Ed.
