Its first uniform football team was organized in 1881. Down through the years, the medium of athletics has served as a teacher of leadership, discipline, and co-operation. From the erection of the “old building” in 1849, Lawrence High School’s athletic teams were called “The Blue and Whites”. After the greatly publicized No God, No Country” strikes in 1912, the title was changed to “The Strikers”. However, the nickname soon became out of date, and the athletic teams became again The Blue and Whites”. As the years went on, our football team improved steadily. However, in 1951, the only time in the school’s history, the Lawrence High School eleven failed to win a single game, finishing the season with nine defeats in nine contests. During that season, in the Haverhill game, the score was 48-0 at the end of the first half. A less determined band of athletes might have abandoned football altogether! However, The Blue and Whites” roared back, and reached a peak in 1957, sweeping aside all their opponents to win undisputed possession of the Class A championship. In winning this goal, the players exhibited the same tenacity their elders displayed when they conquered the unemployment problem brought on by the closing of the Lawrence mills in the last decade. The courage and perseverance of this football team of 1957 so inspired Bill Ferguson, a reporter for the Eagle-Tribune, that he dubbed the players The Lawrence Lancers”. This name caught the imagination of the general public, and our teams have been known as the “Lancers” ever since. The Lancer, as we imagine him, is on the opposite page. We hope we shall always be worthy of this symbol of courage and chivalry. 2 3 i ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY JAMES F. HENNESSEY Superintendent of Schools ADMINIv WILLIAM J. The Tables are Turned This year, for the first time, the State Board of Education distributed a questionnaire to be filled out by every teacher in Massachusetts public schools. Fortunately for us, on the day this meeting took place in Lawrence High School, the yearbook photographer was in the building. We feel these pictures are priceless, because they seem to reverse the usual procedure, and put the teacher in the place usually occupied by the student. 2 + 2 = ??? Relax!! CLASS ELECTIONS 1966 After several weeks of vigorous campaigning by all the nominated candidates from the four classes, on Tuesday November 14, 1966, a revised system of elections for class officers was initiated in the high school. Under the supervision of Mr. John Wilson, head of the Social Studies Department, the members of the Public Affairs Club successfully conducted the elections for all four classes. The pupils from the Vinny Larco points out a campaign poster individual classes filed by homerooms to the impro¬ vised polling booths, where they cast their ballots for the previously nominated candidates of their choice. The institution of the altered plan, modeled after the democratic process of elections, afforded the students a valuable opportunity to view an important phase of democracy, one which stabilized our country and made it as strong and free as it is today. Mr. Wilson makes a phone check. Jim Wazlaw, Phil Byers, Don Hauenstein, and Rick Sweeney producing an electric spark. Rita Batchelder, Dale Pollack, Art Pelletier, Andre Charette, and Judy Coletta examining parts of the stomach cavity. SCIENCE In this rapidly changing world of ours, great tech¬ nological advances have resulted in the availability of new, and more complex jobs. Because of this important challenge to our gene ration, the method of scientific instruction, and the material covered in science classes has been greatly changed and expanded. Lawrence High School’s science department has moved with the times, and recognizes the great importance of advanced in¬ struction in this area. Pupils are offered a large range of science courses from which to choose. Each pupil is afforded the opportunity to discover the challenging world of science. Through biology, or botany, or chem¬ istry, or physics, a whole new world is open to him— and in this world, he may find his future. Jean Mulcahy, Jeff Joaquim, and Kathy Wall oscilloscope reading. G. Wells Mr. Wilson shows a current event film. HISTORY The main object of any study connected with history is to prepare the student for responsible citizenship. Our great country was founded on what we have learned from the mistakes others have made. A careful examination of the history of civilization helps the student to see his own life and democracy in greater perspective. Civics and United States History are required of all students, but one may also elect ancient history, world history, or problems in democracy. Each subject is designed to familiarize the student with the structure, foundation, and operation of government. In addi¬ tion, various aspects of citizenship, such as social institutions, economic systems, human relations, and selections of major vocational areas are covered. The Great Debate Democracy: Tony Lahoud, Charlotte Zurek, and Glenn Keating vs. Communism : Mike Georgopolis, Joyce O’Leary, and Tom Carson. LANGUAGES The Language Department of Lawrence High School offers an unusually varied program to its students. There are courses in five modern languages, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian—and, of course, Latin has always been an important part of our curriculum. The pupil with an aptitude for languages can graduate with an excellent background on which to build an exciting career in any of the areas where fluency in several lan¬ guages is required. There are records, tapes, and labs available to help develop that perfect accent that makes it hard to dis¬ tinguish the American from the native! These aids are also an excellent way for the student to see his own progress, and become inspired to progress even further. In a world which is becoming smaller every day, with few barriers from one country to another, communication among men is more important today than it has ever been. The exchange of ideas, and the solving of problems in a congenial atmosphere by men of all nations may some day bring about the peace for which the world longs. The Manual Arts Course is in tended for the young man who wishes to learn a trade. Instruction in the fundamentals of various crafts helps him to choose what may become his life’s work. The varied curriculum offers courses in auto mechanics, sheet metal, electric¬ ity, electronics, woodworking and printing. The Manual Arts pupil must also take mechanical drawing and math, and the academic subjects, English and history. The Business Department is all business! Students who plan a career in the business world have available to them, a course in any type of work they find appealing. In the early high school years, there are required subjects, which lay the foundation for more advanced work to follow. These basic courses also help to develop vocational preference, so that students may specialize in later high school years in the particular area for which they have an aptitude. The graduate goes into the business world completely prepared to assume the responsibilities in an office large or small, as a secretary, bookkeeper, or office machines operator. Our business course grad¬ uates are in great demand in the city of Lawrence, due to their reputation for efficiency, dependability, and general excellence. Nancy McAvoy helping Rachel Dugas on the adding machine. All good men must come to the aid”— Phyllis Rondeau at the I. B. M. card punch machine. Mr. Moynihan— To be, or not to be; that is the question.” ENGLISH In this high school of more than 2,200 pupils, English is the largest department, since it is a required subject for every pupil, every year. The subject matter in the English classes varies with the course. College English provides the pre-college pupil with the tools he needs to write effectively, and think soundly. It gives him an excellent literary background, by placing considerable emphasis on wide reading of all types of literature. English in the business course emphasizes such skills as letter¬ writing and spelling, at the same time giving the pupil a broad choice of reading, from classical to contemporary. In the general course, the emphasis is largely on basic grammar and developing in the pupil the ability to express himself clearly in writing. Miss McCarthy Good Night, Sweet Prince.” Mr. Bateman’s smiling pupils. 90 Mr. Kelleher— Yes, it’s an adjective.” Lenny Needle shows Joan Cavanaugh how to use the slide rule. MATHEMATICS The growing importance of mathematics in this modern world is fully realized by the Mathematics Department of Lawrence High School. This is the age of computers and advanced technology, and mathematics is the beginning, the middle, and the end of scientific thought today. Math is taught at all levels in each course—from general mathematics to advanced math, trig, and calculus. The college preparatory course prepares the young man or woman for the highly advanced and technical work in math, physics, and the sciences which is common in colleges today. As the population increases, so does the competition. Our mathematics department produces young men and women who are both willing and anxious to meet the chal¬ lenges of the computer age. Mr. Praetz explains the triangle to Carl Weller, Bill Bergeron, Kathy Boyle and Diane DeBenedetto. 91 Linda Beaumier and Cathy Oliver sew on the machines while Phyllis Fucca waits her turn. HOME ECONOMICS Every young woman wants to know how to run a well- appointed home properly, and the Home Economics Course teaches her how to do it. She learns the fundamentals of cooking, sewing, decorating and home management. She is encouraged to develop her own ideas, and to improvise where necessary. The young lady who completes the Home Eco¬ nomics Course satisfactorily graduates from high school con¬ fident that she will one day establish a home of her own. Moe Lambert, Holly Beaudoin, and Sandy Shank work on a new dress. The poised individual is the one who speaks well and confidently, and the Public Speaking course is intended to give this self-confidence to every senior pupil in Lawrence High School. While the new student approaches the course with fear and trembling, he soon discovers that it is not only one of the most useful subjects he has ever taken, but also one of the most fun. Pupils learn a great deal about their classmates—their hobbies, some of them most unusual, and their outside school activities in general. Some of the pleasantest memories of high school days come from Public Speaking. John Cormier gives an ex-tempo. 92 Jim Hammen, Ray Fournier, Ray Smith and Steve Naffah on the stall bars and Dennis Blouin on the horse. In recent years, a greater emphasis has been placed on Physical Education in the public schools. Due to the efforts of the President’s Council on Youth Fitness, the great need for daily physical activity has been realized. During all four years, every student of Lawrence High School who is physically capable is required to take gym at least once every week. The gym period is filled with a variety of modern and traditional exercises adapted to the needs and proficiency of the individual. Glenn Keating and Paul Hinchcliffe wrestle it out.” Chin-u-p-p! The corps, under the instruction of chore¬ ographers Lois and Beatrice Gingras, consists of fifteen spirited girls, headed by Captain Geraldine Ciardello, and Co-Captains Linda Garon and Nancy Cronin. The girls perform at all Law¬ rence High School football games, and also take an active part in field days and musical festivals. They lead the band in the two traditional parades held in Greater Lawrence, the Memorial Day Parade, and the Christmas Parade. For their grand finale of this year’s football season, the majorettes, attired as Toreadors, entertained their fans by dancing to the music of Tijuana Brass at the Thanksgiving Game. Members of the club enjoy discussing Con¬ temporary Soviet Society and literature, and have secured a great deal of information on these subjects by writing to many sources. Each year, the club members have prepared a news magazine, dealing with subjects of interest to Russian language students, and printed entirely in Russian. Club members also enjoy listening to Russian music and learning the folk songs of the Soviet Nation. After the stories are read, games such as Scrabble, Password, and The Scramble Game are played— seniors against the juniors. All communication must be in Latin. Although difficult at times, the urge to win makes the competi¬ tion stiff and the winning worth while. GERMAN CLUB Among the extra-curricular activities of Lawrence High School, the German Club maintains one of the most active schedules. Meetings are held twice a month under the leadership of Miss Justine Devlin, the newly elected head of the modern foreign language department. Open to all students who have completed two years of German, the German Club is dedicated to the goal of acquainting its members with both traditional and contem¬ porary phases of German culture. At the meetings Deutscher Verein Mitglieder” sing German songs, play word games, and plan coming activities. Among them have been the traditional Christmas caroling in the Lawrence Common, field trips to museums, and participation in AATG exams. In the future, the German Club looks forward to con¬ tinued growth in membership and activities. a« whies , .. ; v t 0 EH . : ' V if ; i i H-P rm sfe 1 ■ ft- 1 • • v .. g- -a Prosit! The Lawrence High School Pep Club originated during the football season of 1964, under the supervision of Mrs. Robert LeFebre. The group is made up of cheerleaders, and students from all classes. Its purpose is to instill and encourage school spirit. The club members gather at football and basketball games, to cheer our teams on to victory. Before each game, they fashion pins with victory slogans, which are worn in school by both students and faculty members. Another Pep Club activity is painting posters to hang in the corridors and locker rooms. There is no doubt that the club has made constant progress toward its goal, and school spirit has been a more active, living thing at Lawrence High School since 1964. YEARBOOK In the year 1944, Lawrence High School students produced their first yearbook, and in two short years they will be cele¬ brating the silver anniversary of the Blue and White.” The yearbook staff is made up of hard working and dedicated seniors from every course, who spend many long hours writing, doing layouts, accompanying the yearbook photographer on his picture taking tours, discussing ideas, and from time to time making weary comments, such as, I had no idea it was going to be this much work!” Of course it isn’t all work and no play —there’s the fun of getting an advance look at the pictures that are going to be used in the book, of learning to work with other students as a compact, smoothly functioning unit, of making new friends, and of collecting a lot of memories for pleasant recollections for years to come. We hope that this year’s Blue and White” will reflect the time and thought that has gone into it, and provide the class of 1967 with a record of its high school years that it will long cherish. PUBLIC AFFAIRS CLUB The Public Affairs Club, under the direction of Mr. Milton Lebowitz, is one of the newer extracurricular activities at Law¬ rence High School. Formed two years ago, the club’s member¬ ship has grown rapidly in this brief period. The members have adopted their own constitution and by-laws. At the weekly meetings, strict parliamentary procedure is observed. The frequent discussions which arise over the right to be recognized by the chair demonstrate the spirit and interest the club’s members have for its activities. In the future, the club plans to have guest speakers, to do volunteer work for the United Fund, to visit local government meetings, and to discuss controversial subjects. All members of the student body are invited to attend the meetings, which are held in Room C. The only qualification for membership is the desire to arouse the interest of fellow students in local, state, and federal government activities, and in world affairs. Founded in 1925, The Lawrence High School Band is one of the oldest high school music groups in the country. Under the direction of Mr. Oswald Vogel, the band is the most active student organization in the school . The marching band, consisting of about seventy musicians and fifteen majorettes, faithfully strives to uphold the honor of our school, as well as to elicit school spirit and loyalty from the student body. Lawrence High School is indeed fortunate to be represented by one of the most precise marching musical units in the state of Massachusetts. Although most people remember the band for its festive contributions on the gridiron amid the electric atmosphere of the stadium, few recognize it as a serious concert band which performs during the winter and spring, always under¬ taking a difficult task in striving for perfection in tone, rhythm and sensitivity. The difficult selections which the band plays demand many hours of vigorous practice, but the pride and satisfaction that each member feels while performing at the annual spring concert easily compensate for every rehearsal. In spite of the hard work, the band affords its members a great deal of enjoyment. Rear row: Anthony Siragusa, Roberta Farnsworth, Jeffrey Joaquim, William DeNuzzio, Margaret Harty. Speakers Club Members SPEAKERS ' CLUB The Lawrence High School Speakers’ Club is composed entirely of seniors who love to talk, and exchange ideas. It meets monthly, and holds group discussions on matters of particular interest to the members. One of the most popular subjects this year, as it always is with young people, has been the youth of today, and his problems, responsibilities, image, and relation to the community. The talks are lively, spirited and often more than a little warm! The club’s moderator, Miss Marian Shine, deftly keeps things moving, and develops in her charges the proper attitudes toward such discussions. Club members learn to disagree intelligently, without involving personalities. Members of the Speakers’ Club acquire a great deal of poise and self-confidence during their senior year. The Girls’ Debating Society of Lawrence High School is one of the oldest, and most respected extra-curricular ac¬ tivities the school offers. The organization was originally formed under the direction of Miss Mary A. Driscoll, as an autonomous society for girls to practice democracy.” It was, at one time, the only activity open exclusively to the female members of the student body. The present advisor is Miss Julia McCarthy. Debating is an effective way for a girl to develop many desirable qualities. Perfect poise and diction, and effective speech are the main objectives of the organization. The senior girl who is considered outstanding, in that she possesses all these qualities, is selected by her fellow de- bators as Best Speaker. She is awarded the Mary A. With only three veterans remaining from the 1965 squad, Coach Callagy was at a loss for experienced players. How¬ ever, seven senior men plugged the holes on the line, and did a magnificent job during the entire season. Also remarkable on this year’s team was Jim Melnick, a fifteen year old, signal-calling sopho¬ more. With Roger LeBlond and Paul Herbert as co-captains, the team stayed together, played together and fought together, experiencing victory, triumph, and of course, the agony of defeat. The Lancers’ first game was a close 14-6 squeaker, but the Blue and White were just too inexperienced for the powerful Little Green of Manchester Central. Co-captain Roger LeBlond pulled in the only score with a ten yard pass. Incidentally, the Little Green repeated as New Hampshire State Champs. Assistant Atheltic Director Bernard McDonough and Athletic Director Ralph Wolfendale. 123 Peabody’s Tanners gave their first win to the Lancers, when after a scoreless first period, the Blue and White scored a solid victory. The running of Paul Herbert and Frank Brucato made the difference in that one. The victory party was great! The Lancers’ second win came over Lynn English. Lynn, scoring for the only time in the season, intercepted one of our passes. The outstanding running of Paul Herbert gave us a quick lead, and a 20-6 victory. Beverly, always a tough opponent, provided the Lancers with their third triumph, 20-0. It was during this game that Don Hauenstein and Jim Melnick came into their own. The passing of Melnick, and the running of Bob Ventrillo paved the way for this one. Now came the real test! Salem’s Witches were a big and powerful lot, and were rated number one in the Essex County League, but a determined Lancer squad, with victory in its heart triumphed in a wild and wooly finish. The entire team shone in that one, especially the line, which refused to yield yardage in the face of a strong attack. Head Coach Gerald Callagy. Behind the lines action. 124 Ample punt coverage, wouldn’t you say? As a result of the Salem win, the Blue and White became a little cocky, and went into the traditional game against Central Catholic of Lawrence, expecting an easy victory. However, a stubborn Raider unit held the score 0-0 for three periods, and then drew first blood. With six minutes left on the clock, in a confused and broken play, Melnick flipped a flare pass to Her¬ bert, who ran through the Red and White for a score. Melnick, displaying his cool, then kicked the point, the margin of victory. The game with Manchester Memorial was cancelled, due to rain. With a two week layoff, the Lancers met their next arch¬ rival, Haverhill, on the Haverhill field. Lawrence took to the air, with Melnick passing over thirty times. The score see-sawed back and forth, and the game was won in the last forty seconds when Melnick came through again with a field goal, driving the fans wild. These three points gave Lawrence the victory, 23-20. They say you can’t win them all, and a disappointed Lancer team, after playing its heart out, conceded defeat to Lowell in the traditional Thanksgiving game. There’s always next year. All through the season, the team was cheered on by its loyal followers in the student body, who attended each game in force, and shouted encouragement from the stands. This year, for the first time in the history of the LHS-CCHS series, Lawrence won on both the Central court and its own home court. With only two varsity men, Captain Bruce Fielding and Roger LeBlond, returning to action this season, Coach Joe Carter de¬ pended greatly on the help of Jim Hurley, Dennis Timmons and A1 Gidley, all coming up from the J.V.’s. A lack of height was also a decisive factor in this year’s team, with Jim Hurley being the tall man at 6 ' l . Hurley also led the team’s scoring with Roger LeBlond and Captain Fielding adding many back-up points. A1 Gidley was the quick-and-light rebound man for the quint. Dennis Timmons proved to be a great hustler, taking o ver the ball in many tense moments. Mike Mansour was an able sixth man, coming off the bench in many tight situations. WRESTLING The youngest sport in Lawrence High School to date, and probably the fastest growing in fan appeal, is the Lancer wrestling team. The team was organized last year, and wres¬ tled in only a few exhibition meets, but this year Athletic Director Ralph Wolfendale put together a stiff schedule, and the team came through in fine style. Coach Bob Fitzgerald received upwards of thirty candi¬ dates for both the varsity and jayvee slots. Led by Captain Tony Lahoud, the matmen took on more experienced wrestlers from the North Shore district, and found excite¬ ment in a new sport. Home meets, held at the YMCA where the team also practices, were jammed with standing-room only crowds. As the season progressed, and the fame of the team spread, members of the opposite sex were seen peeking through the throngs which attended each meet. Head Wrestling Coach Bob Fitzgerald. 133 The light and heavy-weight divisions proved to be the crowd ple asers. The quick-moving, rough-tumbling of Bob Campagnone, Jim Hannon and Frank Brucato caught one’s eye the moment a meet opened. From the heavy-weight divisions, Joe Beauregard and Tony Lahoud displayed all the strength and muscle fans expect to see in a wrestling match. Captain Lahoud applies a hold. Gary Roberts brings his man down. Terry Kalil is in full control. Tony Lahoud—The Tiger. Joe Beauregard sets up another pin. 134 Joe Beauregard sends his man crashing to the mat. Senior Jim Nolan showed steady improvement through the year in the 164 pound class. If this year’s meets are any indication, wrestling will be a popular sport in Lawrence High School for many years to come. Frank Brucato breaks his opponent’s hold. 135 James Siudit, Glenn Keating Steve Ellis CROSS COUNTRY Losing much of their veteran material to last year’s graduating class, the Lancer harriers strove valiantly with a team of only six. Although its record was a losing one, the team has promising competitors in underclassmen Steve and Bruce Ellis, Jim Siudit, and Bob Bronco” Morency. Captain Glenn Keating carried his share of the load as he placed in many of the meets. Garry Belanger, a senior, was also a consistent point winner. However unfavorable the record seems, it doesn’t show either the potential or the achievements of the daymen. Over¬ coming such obstacles as poor practice conditions and lack of depth, the Lancer unit ran to within eight points of the league winner, Medford. Such men as Bob Provost and Paul Herbert, dash; Tex Alsup, high jump and hurdles; Bob Lucas, 300; Marty Glynn, 600; and Captain Glenn Keating and Steve Ellis, 1,000 mile, ran their hearts out for Lawrence High School, and accumulated points consistently throughout the season. CHEERING SQUAD, Standing: Virginia Cyr, JoAnn Greenwood, Louise Tacy, Lynne Benen- ati. Kneeling: Claire Levis, Cathy McDonald, Nancy Carey, Marie Calebrese. Every girl dreams of becoming a cheerleader! A cheerleader’s main purpose, on the football field or the basketball court, is to stimulate the rest of the student body into cheering the school teams on to victory. For the football season, the cheering squad practices diligently four days a week to learn and perfect the cheers. They lead the cheers at all home games and accompany the team to opposing gridirons. We want a touchdown” 143 Three cheers for Coach Callagy! Everybody’s doing it, doing it... Cathy McDonald makes it look easy. This year the cheerleaders have encouraged the team in their own way by decorating the clubhouse and providing the boys with home-made cake to help satisfy their insatiable football appetites. Play¬ ers and cheerleaders both have enjoyed this innova¬ tion! A cheerleader must study hard, have no mark below seventy, display exemplary conduct in and outside of school, and have an endless flow of spirit and vitality. 144 When in Egypt, do as the Egyptians do. Rear row: Mike Huard, Bert Roy, Bill Anderson, Ronald Roy, Rick Loader, Claude Turgeon, Paul Searle. 146 Norm Arsenault, A1 Duke, and Coach Richard watch a close one. Bert Roy clears the puck out of the defensive zone. One of the high school’s newest sports entered a league this year and almost ran away with it. Lawrence High’s hockey team joined the newly formed Twin State League composed of three Manchester teams, Memorial, Central, and West, and Lowell and Nashua. In the pre-season poll, Nashua was considered the team to beat, because of its long experience, but the Lancers fought to the last game and finished just two points behind. Their record 11-3-1 was good enough to get them an invitation to the Mass. State Tourney, but the majority of their games were played with out of state opponents and they declined the offer. With a second place finish in their league, the invitation to the Mass. Tourney, and the majority of the players underclass¬ men, their season was an extremely successful one. Providing the offensive power were the Flying Frenchmen, our Canadian imports, Mike Huard and Claude Turgeon. Backing them up were Ron and Bert Roy and Bill Lasonde. Their defense was sparked by the outstanding work of the goalie, Captain Russ Desrosiers, on whom no opponent scored more than three goals in a game. In the defensive line were A1 Duke and Jim Wazlaw, both seniors, who showed fine progress throughout the season. A1 Nicgorski digs for the puck. 147 Coaches Richard and Byrne examine the rule book, while Jeff Chaet looks on. Banging the puck home! Right-winger Ronald Roy centering the puck. Anonymous We, the Yearbook Staff, would like to express our admiration and thanks to Miss Margaret M. Horner for her constant patience and understanding in compiling this yearbook. Her guidance and stimulation did more than facilitate the complex job which the yearbook entailed. Our many endeavors could never have been accomplished without Miss Horner’s knowledge and direction. And indeed, how can we thank everyone— our indebtedness is so great—but we do want you to know that WE know. We have sorrte idea of how difficult eighteen years spent raising a child can be— after all, we were the children! We know how our parents have struggled to bring us this far. We have seen them tired after a hard day’s work, we have seen them worried when we came in too late, and we have always seen the love in their eyes when they glanced our way. We thank them for these wonderful years, and hope that the pride they feel as they see us graduate will be only the beginning, for we intend to make them proud of us as long as we live! Our teachers have known us well—Heaven help them! Since the first day of school they have worked—teaching, encouraging, teaching, scolding, teach¬ ing, pleading, teaching, guiding—through twelve long years, until today. We know that teaching in this atomic age is no cinch, and we know that being young, and not always as conscientious as we should be, we have also not al¬ ways been completely studious, or angelic. We want to thank them for putting up with us, in their good-natured, understanding way. If we have made aca¬ demic progress, and we hope we have, the credit is theirs, and they will share our future—for we cannot help but take with us a little bit of every teacher we have known. Our high school—an inanimate heap of yellow brick—has sheltered us for four years, but it has done much more than that. We are not the same group of freshmen who entered four years ago. We hope we have matured, intellectually as well as physically. We have learned to grapple with problems, and ideas. We have made friends, and screamed at football games. We have learned to obey rules, and respect authority. We have the foundation. Perhaps some day Law¬ rence High School will be proud to name us among its graduates. We hope so. The time to say goodbye is always a sad time. Who knows what the future holds? More school—marriage—careers—perhaps Viet Nam. Whatever it is, we intend to do our best—and the credit is yours! 171 172
