The Lawrence High School offers a varied field of study for all its students. The college preparatory, business, nursing, manual arts, and home economics courses comprise the curricula for stu¬ dents wishing to specialize after graduation. A general course is also available to those students who don’t plan on entering college. Subject matter within these courses is sometimes similar in name; however each course centers its concentration to meet the needs of the students. Civics, physical education, choral music and public speaking are required of all students to insure complete development of the per¬ son both physically and mentally. MASS CONFUSION MOVIE TIME Richard Young 80 ELECTROLYSIS Bill Carey, Linda Hackney, Mr. Sullivan, and Rick Try on Constantly striving for quality of product, Lawrence High has raised its standards and adopted modern methods and equipment. Accelerated courses are available for college preparatory students, enabling them to compete with others of equal ability. Through such diversified and comprehensive study, the graduate of Lawrence High School is adequately prepared to meet the chal¬ lenges of our changing society. For students interested in foreign languages, the Lawrence High School offers six languages to students of all courses. French, German, Italian, Latin, Russian and Spanish cover a wide scope of linquistic opportunities. Tape recorders, records, and clubs, organized by the students, guide the student to a better understanding of his chosen language and allow the teacher to present varied instructional methods. The school science program has made ample use of National Science Foundation grants to equip its laboratories with the most modern equipment available. Kevin Buckley, and Joe Casey hard at work. After completing such a curriculum, the student is in an excellent position to compete in today’s highly competitive college science and technical programs. Working closely with the science depart¬ ment is the mathematics department whose courses take the students through funda¬ mental algebra to highly complex solid ge¬ ometry and trigonometry. For the terminal student the mathematics department offers courses which will prepare him to take a place in our modern society. GUZ COCAZZA, LINDA GARON, ANDY REUSCH. The Lawrence High School was founded 117 years ago. It moved to its present location in 1900 when the “old Building” was constructed at the corner of Lawrence and Haverhill streets. The rising pop¬ ulation of the city and subsequent increasing enroll¬ ment soon taxed the capacity of the building and in 1924 the James D. Horne annex was opened to pro¬ vide adequate classroom space. While there have been no additional buildings constructed since that time, renovations have kept pace with the changing times. Science laboratories have been remodeled and an audio-visual room constructed to insure up-to-date facilities for those in attendance. Equipment has also been constantly improved. Today, the teachers have every available teaching aid from motion pic¬ tures to closed circuit television at their disposal. The teachers and administrators realize that it is only through such modernization programs that the student can compete on an equal basis for college or occupational positions with pupils of other schools. 84 Be it remembered that we. the m n q q -p to a a -1 . tionable sanity and of wound physical caDacitv ’dJif 8 W L ®ques- document to be our Last Win cmlrn Z oa P aoi y d ° hereby adopt this To Mr. Sullivan, Mr. O f Brien nor, and Mr. St. Paul, we leave advice and help rendered by them under their guidance. It is now the year 1976, and it sure is amazing how people have taken to the water. We are now seated in a 1974 model of a Super-Sub going at the fantastic speed of 200 miles an hour. It may not be a brand new model, but it sure keeps up with the best of them. We ' re glad they decided to have our class reunion down under. This new civilization they have built at the bottom of the Atlantic sure solves the smlg problem. Say, wait a minute. Isn ' t that James White who ' s driving the Super-Sub? Sure enough. We knew if he ever got over his sea-sick¬ ness, he ' d be great at driving something like this. There ' s a few members of the crew now. Let ' s see if we know any of them. There ' s Mike Menery , the ship ' s steward. Looks like he ' s delivering messages and doing a little spying on the side. Here comes the ship ' s cook. Well, if it isn ' t Donald Pluet . As we pass by the engine room, we can see some of the engineers who keep the ship going. They include Edward Burns , William Calla ¬ han , Richard Young , Allan Cuscia , William Morin , and Joseph DiPrimo . By the way, there ' s Paul Boshar , the designer of the Super-Sub. He always wanted to be a millionaire. Right Paul? As we pass by other rooms, we see some more of our old friends from the class of 66. Steve Ginsberg , the well-known wizard of Squid Square, and his secretary Sheila Krawiec . He brought along some of his office staff. There ' s Carol Barbeau , Andrea O ' Neil , Carol Capriole , Lynda Perillo , Rose Know , and last but far from least Joyce Spinney .. On the left is the office of that world famous dentist John Sardella and his lovely assistant Gail Sigillo . They sure have a well-equipped ship as you ' ll soon find out. They have an enormous concert hall where they have performances by many great stars. Tonight we understand Mary Bauchmann is giving one of her spectadular performances on the piano. Also playing to¬ night will be Billy Evans doing one of his ever famous drum solos. Some dancers from the class of 66 will entertain us too. They are Audrey Paus t, Rosemary Fowler , Nylon Rogers , Muriel Robinson , and Dickie Brown . They alw ys were just about the best around. An amazing part of the ship is the men ' s and women ' s hair salons. It seems ridiculous to get your hair all done up when you have to put on those crazy helmets everytime you go out. Donna Talarico has opened her salon right next door to Minu(s Barber Shop run by James Ahern. Wonder why?? Some of the girls working for Donna are Connie Caruso, Phyllis D ' Agata , June Hale , Ann Caruso , Amelia Levesque , Joyce Milone , Mary Nicgorski Cynthia Phillips , Donna Rheaume and Barbara Cerami . As you can see, Donna has a great business going for herself. As we pass by Minu ' s, we see Joe Rizzo sitting under one of the driers. Some of the other patrons are Michael Nartiff , John Simon , Prank Arcidiacono , and Prank Mistretta . There is a talent contest going on in Shine ' s Auditorium. We can see many of the promising stars from the class of 66 . There is Alice Cordeau , Gary Prost , Sandra Leduc , John Grasso , and Ann ' I V I ' % ’ I o • ■ ’ ' • ; • , . 4 ■ • • - ' - ’ , . . 8 . The Gotham City Hospital is run by John Macoul . David Rindler . Hency Carroll. and Elaine Nimerowski . Beverly Kraft . Mary McGurn , and pat Levesque .We ' re now coming to the room where they practice physical therapy. There ' s Linda Fishwick teaching some of the pa¬ tients how to play basketball• While we were walking down the hall, we also ran into Alice Mears , Martha O ' Donnell , and Linda Calvert serving meals to the patients. As we approach the nUrses 1 dining room, we see a few more of our friends from our alma mata, j g-rgar pt Connell , Diane Crouch . Sharon DeLucca . and there ' s Sandy DiMaggio waiting on tables on roller skates! How nice that we were invited to attend the presentation of the Fishical Awards. That well-known announcer, Uwe Hemp , will be our master of cerimonies tonight. At the tables we recognize some of the lucky nominees waiting patiently on the results of the judging. Among the nail biters are Eileen Dinan . Billy Donahue . (How about that. They ' re still appearing in movies together , Rita Solomon , Mary Ann Annaian . Joe Clement , and Pat MacDonald . Those presenting the awards tonight are Christine Hassan . Ann Twomey . Zelma Disp ensa. Doris Grenier . James Howarth . John Huskey , and Ronald Demers. The room has gotten quiet all of a sudden. On our.way out we stop to say hello to Kevin Iworsley , Donna ebula, Marie Demers, Ed Cassell , and Pam Cummings . who have come to congratulate the winners. The nightlife is Just beginning to take shape in Gotham-City Underwater. As we walk to the famous Seaweed A-go-go, we pass by a news stand run by none other than Alfred Balsamo and Ed Michaud. On one of the magazine racks we see a copy of Rogue. On the cover is a picture of that model of models Helen Pierce . She certainly has come a long way since high school days. into the Seaweed A-go-go, we can see many familar the a-go-go girls are Shirley Bistany , Kathy White ' OH? As we leave the Seaweed A-go ngo, we meet John Rivard . Ellen ---- ane B°ddy. Gordon Prescott , and Thomas Gitschier doing some research on how to solve the traffic problem. Driving underwater can be quite a problem. It seems that fish have no respect for peo- pie at all. They’d rather knock you down than wait for you to get out of their way. As we walk.along Starfish Avenue we think of all we have to do tomorrow. At night Gotham-City Underwater is very beautiful. The W ?i+u turn S- a , deep color of hlue and the city is very quiet without all those fish swimming around. It’s difficulfctto explain Just how lovely it really is. ° Well it ' s off to the Shark Hotel for a good night ' s rest. After ail, we.have to get up with the Lobsters tomorrow as we want to get everything done before we leave. trm-u As Y e a y a en can see many, early fish. You know, the saying, n . T . e „_ ear y. catches the worm. Three of our friends Robert ±ii£urrp, Linda Andrew, and Francis Sullivan are walking down the street smiling as always. Today We’re off to Gotham Downs to see the races. As we arrive we meet none other than Phil Abraham . He’s still racing horses, but now we see that they are sea horses. There’s a few more of our friends from the Class of 66’. William Buckley . Ray Gudowski. __aurence —Doyle, James Whalen, Linda Mosqus, and Nancv Beauriin. d ere lf a J ew °£ the Jo eys now. As welook we V an see fii Vard ■ggfSgjl, Denis Boisveet, Benny Vinci , and Dean Tsonas . These boys can really make those horses travel. They are racing, today for the 10 grand prize, a pair of diamond studded water wings. The race is about to begin. And there goes the.gun!! Right now it ' s Shark-Skin in the lead with Sting-ray, Seaview, Clam Haven, and Jelly-Sish following right behind. And here they come around the last turn with Shark-Skin in the lead. And the winner is Clam Haven!!? Amaaing how they come up from behind like that at the last minute. His owner, Joe Casey , must be very proud. As we look around we can see the happy faces of some of the people who had money on Clam Haven. A few of them are Jane Sick , Dennis Blanchette . Frances Wiacek , Pearl Vercauteren , Robert Peate , and Shirley Flood . Now we are on our way to visit Radio Station WFISH run by Mike Gallagher „ and Donald Levesque . As we go in we can hear the voices of Anna Gallo , Arsen Gorgizian , Laura Johnson , James Keating , June Milia, and Sam LoGuidice . They call themselves the ' Hammerheads, ' fits them just right. Their new song is call When the Whales Come Home, written by Denis Misserville and Kenny Penny . Sound like it should be a real great hit. It ' s almost two o ' clock now and we have to be on our way. Our nest stop is the opening of the new high school. They are going to call it Lawrence High Under the Sea. It will be dedicated to our own Headmaster, Mr. Daniel F. Sullivan, by the President of Gotham- City Underwater, Fred Dezan , and the First Lady, Donna Scalera . They really make a cute couple. W e can see that Fred has brought along his office staff. They include Susan Schaufenbil , his private secretary, and his under-sec¬ retaries, Ann Morin , Terry Paplaskas , Charlotte Proctor . Gail O ' Con ¬ nor , and Linda Higgins . The credit for building this lovely school goes to Paul Kasila , John Boub a, Robert Fichera , Joseph McCarthy , and Leonard Bourassa . There is one room designed especially with Mr. Moynihan in mind It has rows upon rows of chairs on which he lines up the pages of the Class Will and Prophecy. Mr. Moynihan wrote a book not too long ago entitled, The Jokes My Class Loved. We understand he put it together in the very same way. This room way designed by Jeremi Chylinski, Th om as Follansbee , Danny Gallagher , and Richard Wetmore . They must have known Mr. Moynihan quite well. As we leave to visit the telephone company we bump into Janet Hmielowski . Gerry Kalil , and Linda Kay . They still have wonderful personalities. We are now in the main office of the Walkie-Talkie Telephone Company. They ' ve designed a new type of phone. You see the person you ' re talking to on a monitor. It really is amazingt At the switchboards we can see some of our old classmates. Lorraine and Carol Lavoie are working side by side. It ' s good to see sisters get along so well. We can also see Shirley Bedrosian , Janice Pas . Kathy Deeb , and Donna Sapronis . All of these girls are married now, but they will never change. They are still as warm and friendly as ever. ■ ' r I t A V- ( i J ■ ! 11 . As we prepare to leave Gotham-City Underwater, we see a few of our friends returning from their jobs. Sharon Sacchetti , Cynthia Dobrinski . Majorie Si1veira , and Jean Donahue a re all working in the Infernal Revenue Office. After returning to the Shark Hotel, we find that Perley Clegg , Carol Fille , George Fraize , Maureen Gallagher , and Jean Fleming have come to help us get ready for our trip back to the surface. By the looks of all the souveniers we have, we r re going to need all the help we can get. Well we are on the Super-Sub now and we can see that some of the old gang have decided tccome back with us for a short visit. Among them are- John Cummings , Gerard Roy , William Sirois , Marie Watkin . Agatha Zappala , Elaine Valenti , Marie Salvo , and Francis Paris . 4 As.we say good-bye to Gotham-City Underwater, we get a feeling of emptiness. Meeting our old friends again has made us realize how long it has been since we have seen them and how long it may be before we see them again. But no matter how long the time may be we will always keep in our memories and in our hearts fond recollections of L. H. S. and the Class of 1966. Guards Glenn Moore and Joe Clement along with rugged tackle Louie Pollizotti anchored the forward wall. Highlights of the season included back to back wins over Salem and Beverly who finished second and third in the state.
