HIS year the traditional BluefancyfVhite of the Lawrence High School hasfefoeeimreplaced by gold in the Year Book in jfenor of our 100th Commencement. Our vener ra e school has sent out thousands of graduates®ice its first small graduating class of 7 under We guidance of one teacher-principal to today ' s®ra during class of 428 under the guidance of a |f a cutty of 94. The years intervening hqve witnessed many changes from that small byilding which stood on the site of the present Oliver Grammar School. Our school has alwfys kept rapid pace with the growth of our city so that its graduates have been able to take-advantage of the opportunities in its industrial, business and professional life, and today we have the present large modern building wijkits well-equipped different departments. A W How many thousands pLa encians look upon their high school days as tn|e happiest of their lives — free from tfie confines of the neighborhood grammar und not yet hemmed in b y the limit ofessional or business life, but mingling happily and con¬ tentedly with groups frorr hll sections of the city and from all walks oMjfe-4.the one time in one ' s life for experiencirji} perfect democracy. We of the Lawrence High School have a long and honorable tradition behind ’us, and as we stand here in 1951 let us look forward to a second century of dedication qnd service to our city.
