Class Ode The clouds are slowly gath’ring in the loiv’rmg skies above, A snore white bird floats shyly, the symbol of peace, a dove. Huge breakers dash against the rocks, hidden ’neath the spray, The chill winds wailing mournfully throughout the ominous clay. The storm in all its fury will burst upon the earth, The falling bombs may signal another world war’s birth. On land and sea, far, far away, our gallant boys will stand, A mighty fortress, firm and true, to save this glorious land. In our outstretched hands, dear classmates, lies the future of the world. And to us, this generation, has the living torch been hurled, Fail or falter xve shall not, however hard it be, Bold and valiant we shall march, onto victory. The storm will cease, the clouds will part, to z welcome the Sun once more, And never again, upon this earth, shall there be the plight of war. Deep in our hearts our vision dwells, guiding our separate ways, And cherishing too, the memories of Lawrence High School Days. Rosemary E. Regan Class of 1951
