Teacher of the Year Mr. Gary Russell A concern for his students, an ability to help students understand math, and an outgoing personality were some of the reasons that Mr. Gary Russell was chosen Teacher of the Year, 1981-1982, by the school faculty. Mr. Russell came to BeINn 1974 after he graduated from the Universi- ty of Texas in Arlington and North Texas State University with his bachelor ' s and master ' s degrees. Although teaching algebra and geometry take up much of Mr. Russell ' s time, he manages other activities such as an- nouncing and keeping scores at all home basketball games. He has also been an emcee for the Most Beautiful Most Handsome Pageant for the past four years. Because he enjoys working with students, Mr. Russell has taken an active position as a class sponsor for the past five years. Mr. Gary Russell, because of his talent and dedication, is worthy of his title, L. D. Bell Teacher of the Year. I IP 1:1 IlJ HV J 1 j i - ; ! 1 to ft 1 i 1 18 TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Leadership Qualifies Linda Dufficy A strong believer in being totally involved in high school, Linda Dufficy has been ranked first in her class scholastically for all three years and has been active in many extra-curricular activities. In her senior year she served as President of the Science and Spanish Clubs and of the Inter-Club Council and as a member of the Executive Council of the National Honor Society. Too, she was an officer in the Raider Speech Club as well as a member of the National Forensic League in which she earned a Degree of Distinction. Her interests in speech and science led her to enter both district and state competi- tions in both areas where she won many awards and scholarships. After being selected to represent Bell High School in the Century III Leaders Program, Linda won the state competition and scholarship which included a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia, to represent Texas at the national competition sponsored by Shell Oil Company. In what little spare time Linda has, she performs as a Spanish dancer and plays the piano. During the summer, she works as a swimming instructor and lifeguard at the local pools. Her future plans include four years at Rice University, majoring in chemical engineering. Linda ' s diverse talents and leadership skills, combined with her academic achievements, make her the deserving choice as Miss Bell High School. 20 MR. AND MISS BELL HIGH SCHOOL
