Denison ' s Yellowjacket fullback Don Jordon scored from the Bell three for the first tally with Robert Tatum adding the point after. The second six notches was on a 65 yard intercepted pass by Butch Gladden. The third mark was on a 30 yard pass play from Yellowjacket Bill Winder to Cretis Moore. Raiders Qlip In The Mud In drenching rain and on a soggy field the Blue Raiders opened their ' 66 season against the South Oak Cliff Gold- en Bears. The Bears fumbled on the kickoff and the Blue Raiders took advantage of the miscarriage, scoring in four plays. Don Moore converted after Berg ' s six to give the home team a quick 7-0 lead. South Oak Cliff retaliated with a forty yard reverse to the Blue Raider one, setting up the score by Buddy Capps the next play; Bell crushed the attempt for the extra point. Johnson tallied again in the third quarter after a 46 yard leap. A two point conversion succeeded, leaving the score 14-7. Defense The Key-Richland Picked The Lock Raiders Fall 7-0 Tough defense was the by-word in the Blue ' s 7-0 loss to the Richland Rebels. Defensive standouts Wayne Morse and Gary Tongate led the rush of the Raiders ' rock hard defense as they ground the Rebel machine to a halt. Sam Steele was the leading ground gainer with 59 yards. Record Play not Enough As Irving Slips By 7-6 A 99 yard T. D. pass from Junior quarter- back Doug Berg to Senior Doug Reed nearly brought victory for Bell against Irving. This came immediately after a rock hard Raider defense had held the Tigers for four downs inside the Blue six yard line. The six points made it 7-6 in favor of the Tigers. The try for two points was stopped just short of the goal by Irving desperation defense.
