Life is oriented A clock ticking slowly to drag to an end, and ticking far too rapidly during lunchtime and the break to be frozen as we concentrate, searchin for the answer to complete an exam. But as the bell rings we find that the ticking had continued; Time remains constant... Time is the necessity for growth, for the learning process. Now is our time — our time to find individuality, to discover truths, to seek answers We express our answers in different ways. . . Many are outward manifestations — our fads, our clothing, our hair styles, But our findings affect us inwardly in our morals, in our senses of values. Too frequently adults judge us using only what they discern outwardly as a basis. . . Monthly, magazine articles appear on topics like The New Morality, or Ttie Teen Revolution, Showing an ei. irely black and white picture of our world. Realizing that no picture is complete while lacking shades of gray, this year the RAIDER attempts to reflect the entire picture, mirroring the way we see ourselves. ...Our View of Our Generation. 1 I « ' ai ACTIVITIES FOOTBALL Winter . . . The mighty Rider offense pushed across their first score in the 2nd period, thus ending first half scoring and leaving the score knotted. The Rider team began to feel its oats in the 3rd quarter as they drew blood after two long drives to give them a very commanding 21-7 lead. As Rider dominated 3rd quarter action, so Bell came roaring back in the 4th quart er to reverse the tide. Monte Stewart scored from the four to cap a 67 yard drive. Bell elected to gamble for a 2 point conversion but Rider rose to the occasion and Bell ' s attempt failed. This left the score 21-13. Bell was not yet finished. With the punishing running of Sam Steele the Raiders drove to Rider ' s 13. With 1:13 on the clock the Raider ' s dream of an upset was shattered as Bell lost the ball on a questionable fumble decision. Rider rode out the final minute and Bell fell 21-13. It is in this year that winning teams are born. But in actuality a good team is not born, but rather is created through a painstaking training program that includes extensive football drilling, weight lifting, running, and other assorted and very tedious preparation for the years ahead. The sophomore gets no recog- nition for the work he does, but he realizes that it ' s worth it and that it will pay off in the future. The most basic and important phase of gymnastics is beginning. Secondly, a gymnast has to give up much of his time to devote himself to a rigid training schedule. A gymnast must be equipped with a certain amount of ability and potential which he will develop and expand into greater bounds. The individual striving to become a gymnast receives self-satisfaction from his progress and simultaneously develops a physically fit body. Gymnastics leaves no group out; it is enjoyable to the participants as well as to the spectators. [Ung-man Jerry Adrian attains the faultless hand stand. Bell a school that sets examples, and what makes it a school which doesn ' t imitate? It is a combined, coordinated relationship between student body and faculty. Every year the opportunity is there for the students to excel and to lead, not just among our students but among students from all over the state. Well, the opportunity is there but where are the students? There has never been and certainly not this year has there been a shortage of talented students. Therefore you have been the ones who have been responsible for the school ' s student leadership and representation. In the past year this responsibility has been accepted by the students. Recall, for instance, the problem with the break period. When the privilege was almost revoked the students responsibly acted in a manner to alleviate the situation, and as a result there was no further problem. Another issue was the assemblies yet the student body presented a change to the administration so as to please the student. These are only examples of student action but it does show that the students are concerned over the areas which affect them. This year the student body has probably worked together as a unit in the best sense for the betterment of the school. This is the thing that has made this such an enjoyable year for me. Thanks to each student for making it the best year ever at Bell. Vicki 61,71,314 Cindy Frank Jerry ' -i ■l ' '  i ' ■■' r- The year is almost over; it began like all years, and it will end like all years. But in the midst it was unique. Memories-the Al ma Mater at the first pep rally, the kickoffs, the basketball games, the first English theme with an A, holding hands with someone special Saturday night- --are different to each individual, but the events that originated them were the same. This year the Raider staff tried to capture these events. Due to factors of time and space all could not be recorded. Some of you will look for pictures that are not there; others will find pictures that you did not expect to see. This book is the product of many wonderful people. I would like to thank... f ...Mrs. Dean, for calmly facing all problems... ...Mike Worley, for his many hours of hard work... ...Guy Burnett, for his humor... ,..Dan Matheson, his ideas and advice... ...Dee Peterson for being able to count to three... ...Wes Odell, for his patient understanding ift ...Tommy Reedy, for all the pictures that he made... I know that next year the Raider will be in capable hands--those of Ada Gilmore, Novella Harvey, and David Biggerstaff. 1 am grateful to all the people who helped me this year, especially those not on the Raider Staff, and to the faculty and student body for always cooperat- ing and letting us catch them at being themselves. As I recall the work, the tears, the wonder- ful surprises that have been this year, the dis- appointments fade, and all that is left is the memory of the fun. For this 1 say, thank you each. Sincerely, Nancy Woodward Editor, Raider ...Vickie Adams and Dixie Day for being sophomores. «  T3 TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY The World ' s Best Yearbooks Are Taylor-made - i- ■li -Vi, ' ' i i-: •J?
