7 The 1956 Bears' Den is in- tended to record, pictorially and editoriall what the students Y, v faculty, and administrators have done during the fifteenth year in which Lawrence Central has served the community. The past year has been one of rapid growth in school enrollment. In September the new Lawrence Elementary School No. 4 was opened with an enrollment of over 630. In December the lZ-class- room junior hi h school was com- pleted for the E39 junior high school pupils who had been on a halfday schedule. Planning and producing the yearbook under such conditions has been a real challenge to the staff. If the students and teachers enjoy their books when they receive them--if they find in the pages high points in the year's activities---if they consider their books things to be cherished in future years---the staff will feel they have performed the service they were expected to perform.
