Special Dedication Sharing, caring, helping one another, being there for both the good times and the bad, sharing secrets, dreams, and precious moments. For over twenty years Mrs. Mary Ray and Mrs. Penny Sumpter have been more than just co-workers teaching in the Laverne School System. They’ve been next door neighbors, the best of friends, and personal confidantes. We, the yearbook staff, thought it only appropriate that Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Sumpter also share this very special yearbook dedication. This dedication is given in love and gratitude for the wonderful years they shared not only with each other, but also with all of us at L.H.S. We would like to dedicate the Laverne Tiger’s Roar to Mrs. Mary Ray. Mrs. Ray has given 35 years of dedicated service to the Laverne School System. Mrs. Ray has taught social studies, English, and art to many students who have passed through the doors of L.H.S. She has shared with them not only her excellent knowledge and zest for education, but also her wonderful humor showing them that learning can be fun. Mrs. Ray, thank you for being such a joy and a treasured teacher. — Anissa Young This edition of the Laverne Tiger yearbook is respectful- ly dedicated to Mrs. Penny Sumpter, who retired in the summer of 1985. Mrs. Sumpter served 28 years as the business teacher at Laverne. Mrs. Sumpter provided a high-quality education for her students. The knowledge she instilled in her students has been vital to the students’ success in college and the business world. Throughout her years of teaching she also sponsored the Pep Club, Student Council, and was a senior sponsor for many years. It has been an honor to have such a wonderful person in our school system. — Keith Mulbery
