Administration SUPERINTENDENT Harry Shackelford The 1968-69 school year brings additional high- lights in the history of the Laveme School. Thirty-nine teachers staff our school this year. This is the most we have had. Also, we offer fifty-three units of credit, the most ever offered here. Seven teacher aides are here to assist. A kindergarten is new, too. And Mr. Jayroe is the assistant superintendent. More square miles have been added to our school district with the annexation of Overstreet and Clearlake. Our taxable wealth now approaches eleven million dollars. Our new teachers are Mr. Bill Heaton, Mr. Joe Cheap, Mrs. Glenda Riddle, Mrs. Dona McAtee, and Mrs. Sharon Brown. Our tragic loss was by the death of Mrs. Sophia Howard. Let us look forward to continued progress. My fond hope is to see a nice air-conditioned auditorium built with space comfortably to seat one thousand people. May God bless every one of you. As Laverne’s first assistant superintendent, I would like to express my thanks to the administration and fac- ulty for their fine cooperation. I would like to express a special thank you” to the seniors and student body for making this a fine year for all concerned. We wish for the seniors success and happiness, THE AMERICAN WAY, in the years to come. We that remain at LHS will look forward to a better year in 1969-70 as a result of you seniors passing our way. ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT 4 E. G. Jayroe

Dear God WILT thou bless our boys today? WILT thou give them strength and courage, clear vision, strength of heart for this day? THOU knowest each name. ;v : WILT thou safeguard their lives and in thine own good time bring them home to us again? HASTEN the day, Oh Lord, when war shall cease and peace shall again cover the earth. WILT thou comfort and cheer each one, who may be discouraged or lonely? AND, Heavenly Father, there may be some of our dearest who may this day make the supreme sacrifice of love and devotion for their country. CHEER such ones with thy presence and receive them into thy everlasting Kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
