SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE I want to express my appreciation to The 1961 Tiger staff, their sponsors Mr. Cox, Mrs. Bartow and Mr. Hennigh, and to those of the Laverne School whose co-operation and work in compiling, editing, and publishing made this fine testimonial to your classmates possible. As we move from the old high school building to the new one, so are you as graduating seniors moving toward a new challenge in society. May your life’s work express the same sincerity, enthusiasm and effort as you have displayed in presenting this annual. Sincerely, Harry Shackelford BACK ROW, Left to Right: Mr. Shackelford, Superintendent; Noah O'Hair, Member; C. H. Zollinger, Clerk. DEDICATION The senior class this year takes great pride in the dedication of our annual.lt is more than a dedication— it is a thank you note from all who will participate in using the new high school. Since January of 1960, when the building of the new high school began, the class of 1961 has happily anticipated the time when we would be the first graduating class to occupy it. For our class will be the one setting the example for classes in future years. This new school is like a new hope. Its bright colors make a happier atmosphere. The large classrooms show that the town is growing; more children will be filling the classrooms. We think of the school as a bright light shining into the future. It shows the community and visitors to our town that we are growing toward a better, more modern educational future. It also shows that we are a pros- perous community and we believe in higher standards of living. Yes, we, the senior class, student body, faculty, and the entire community are very proud to dedicate the 1960-61 annual to the new Laverne High School.
