Through ..,...., E e . 2' 5 1 Q 23 s Y the dust, Mrs. Rotena Largent, the instructor, distinguishes the F 5 little figures as Gene Aldridge, Verl Kamp, Ralph Ross, Patsy Riggs, ,,E and Margaret Stuart. gg The next year finds these five with Elsie Long in the second , E grade of their school career. Miss Opal wells pushes us to the 5rd Q grade where Miss Irene Smalley takes us in hand. With Raymond Cly- - 5 born added to our number, we pass to the 4th grade where Miss J 5 f Winifred Gantt awaits us as our teacher. , :QQ I v with all our trials and troubles, we finally got into the 5th 74. grade, where that wonderful lady, Mrs. Pat Aldridge, helped us iii along that term of school. Two important events happened this year, igg we moved into the new school building and Robert Kelly joined our H2 class. a , The next year, we had our first experience with a male teacher, Z Mr. Bruce Hale. Many visited the library where his paddle was 'f' kept, but with the help of Harold D. Berry, Donna Hart, and Delvin F. V Jett, we finally made it back to the old school house and the il, M seventh grade. 'fi . A ' Dorotha Lawton Qwhich is not pronounced Dorotheaj, Richard y E Anderson, Betty Hudson finished our last year of grade school with 7'f us. This year our class contributed to the war effort by selling ,gg the most scrap iron and war bonds. And at the end of this school F 5 year, we received those eagerly awaited diplomas from Miss Eva 95? Knight. , In September of 1945, we became full-plegged members of Laverne :sf High School. The new members, Wayne Uinfough, Deloras Boren, Rita ' 5 Farrell, Norma Fuller, H.R. Hart, Wiola Hicks, Charles Johnson, :sg Flossie Johnson, Ava Kamp, Evelyn Kamp, Juanita Kamp, Pat Kerns, l Q Ramona Merett, Ramona Messner, Neil Ragan, and Howard Rolf joined :wt us in our Freshman activities. The beginning high light of this ,gf year was the Freshman initationc Then came athletics, in which ,.E most of us took part. We were very proud that one of our boys, LQ? L Delvin Jett, made the main team in football. We elected Margaret, f.? ' Q. Howard, and Juanita to serve as our officers and Mrs. Billie Proot- 5'f 1 or as our sponser. ws' The spotlight of our Sophomore year was on Ramona Merett , who T V was shosen basketball queen, and on Delvin, who crowned her. With ,g4 Lola Faye Kimvall and Polly Dinwiddie to help us along, this was iii our most inactive high school year. Oh, yes, we did go through the - Q insane asylum. Luckily, we all escaped! This year, Margaret was lf? President, Delvin was Vice-President, and Ramona Merett, was Secretary 2-L and Mr. Lipsett was our sponsor. 5, ff were we ever busy in our Junior year, with the play and the r'G banquet taking most of our time. Our play, WSuperstitious Sadien ig was directed by Mrs. Helen Long, who was our sponsor. Our banouet . I had a Circus theme and with the added company of J. Dee Jett, Mary ,.fff Lee Ferguson,-David Disney, and Mary Louise Baxter, we had a great ' ggiwwm ---- M-a-s- -.-, deal of fun in these undertakings. We also were very busy support- Vfffgfggwgggmgg ing our candidate, Ava Kamp, for Carnival Queen, but our efforts ' were rewarded when she was crowned by Harold D. Berry. Our officers Qi ff ggi-Qv5f'? this year were Margaret , President, Delvin, Vice President, Ava, igggaQ:afT?EQ Secretary. This year we whose the carnation as our class flower if if!T?ft-S1525 and blue and white as our class colors. Our membership was 56 and Paul ,sp K' Mahan brought the total to 57. This year was filled with several e important events such as having our pictures mad-, ordering class A rings, and our annual play, Calling All Girls' which was directed ,,' by our assistant sponsor, Joe Woodruff. Ava Kamp was again chosen 27:3 Carnival Queen, and was very ably crowned by Paul Mahan. With Ivan a' Q Mar eney as sponsor and those able class officers, H.R., President, Q D ras, Vice-President, and Ava, Secretary, we had an enjoyable 3 year together which ended with our graduating exercises in May. ,,'E W2 -- -I ' T T, T f if , -slash H , ' f sm ' Y ei-, ' 4.2.
