FUTURE TEACHERS CF AMERICA ARE SCHOLARSHIP AMONG ITS MEMBERS. The purpose of the Future Teachers of Ameri- ca is to acquaint its members with the advantages and disadvantages of a teaching career. Group discussions and questions make up a good deal of the activities. The club plans to observe classes in the grammar grades and to discuss what it sees. Talks with teachers and other school officials have also been scheduled. From these activities, the members hope to get. a birds eye view of the teaching profession. THE NATIONAL I-IONOR SOCIETY AND TI-III ORGANIZATIONS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE The members of the National Honor Society, Elizabeth Jones, Freda Howell, Linda Lundin, Karen Gibson, and Hope Keeton, represent the high standards of excellence in Laurinburg High School. We look up to you, Mr. Calhoun. Members of the National Honor Society are select- ed on the basis of character, leadership, and ser- vice, as well as scholarship. A minimum scholas- tic average of 90 is required of all members. A maximum of 5 per cent ofthe junior class and 15 per cent ofthe senior class are eligible for mem- bership. New members are received into the so- ciety in a very impressive tapping ceremony con- ducted by veteran members.
