Seniors 13 Athletics 37 Organizations 77 Underclassmen 123 Faculty 147 Advertising 159 The times are changing and so are we . . . some a little slower than others. But change is evident in emotion if not in gym clothes. Athletes traded their fall spikes for spring Nikes, while band uniforms provided discomfort in all seasons. Three students changed countries for the year, and we all became joggers for a day. 'Bye-Bye Birdie' - a smashing success The 1982 spring musical was quite a success as a large cast performed Bye-Bye, Birdie. The musical play is a delightful story of a rock singer, Conrad Birdie, and the zany happenings which occur when he is drafted into the army. His manager, Albert Peterson and his secretary. Rose Alvarez, arrange for the teen-idol to publicly kiss one of his fans before his departure. Unfortunately, the chosen girl has a very jealous boy friend, and the complications are many. The humorous conflicts delighted the large audiences who viewed the productions. Chris Tantlinger portrayed Birdie, with Rusty Ber-nabo and Bonnie Bendel as the manager and secretary. Seniors recognized at final home game Couples find pleasant experience The 1981-82 Junior-Senior Prom, Endless Love, was highly successful. The Grand March took place in the high school. The auditorium was colorfully decorated with a sparkling waterfall. Family and friends watched as the couples were announced. The event was climaxed by the crowning of Prom Queen Sherry Colson. The prom and post-prom activities were held at the Lord Ligonier Inn, where food and entertainment awaited the couples. Tina Colson and her escort enjoy dancing Prom Queen Sherry Colson at 1982 prom - Endless Love 1982 Junior Class Officers and Their Escorts: President Kelli Carney, Curt Luther, Jay Merritt, Vice-president Teresa Spangler, Secretary Kristie Merritt, Rick Ludwig, Treasurer Ruth Galbraith, Mike Lear. Bonnie Bendel and Chris Dragan sang the prom's theme song, Endless Love. Stacie Madeley escorted by Randy La-vely After a hearty meal, conversation among friends and the sound of popular hits filled the room. A host of lively activities kept couples busy throughout the night. They danced to the beat of Tammany Hall, a talented rock group. Plenty of smiles and a few sore feet were evident. Veterans and beginners alike enjoyed bowling. A professional hypnotist called for volunteers from the audience for some light-hearted shenannigans and the music went on. 9 Autumn sunshine and victory over Ferndale The Rams' victory on September 25 added high spirits to the suspense of the fifteenth annual Homecoming. A score of 22-0 over the Ferndale Yellowjackets earned Coach Page and the Ram team their fourth consecutive shut-out. Students elected Todd Bucklen and Kelli Carney to succeed Ernie Ritenour and Amy McDonald as King and Queen. Members of the Queen's court were Bonnie Bendel, Tammie Hall, Nina Henderson, Joy Ritenour, Lisa Simpson and Judy Snyder. Bill Conrad, Greg Gamble, Randy Lately, Rick Ludwig, Jay Merritt and Scott Mundorff were the King's court. Then the boys went on quite a winning streak. At mid-season the Ram sluggers went on the road to play in the Greater Johnstown Invitational Tournament, where they defeated Windber, Johnstown Vo-Tech and finally United to win the championship. The Rams then went on to win the rest of their scheduled league games. In the District playoffs, the Ram team was taken out of contention when they lost twice to Bishop Carroll. Throughout these pages we have tried to show how The times are changing and how we are changing with them. The staff received assistance from many persons and at this time we would like to express our appreciation. Our Boss, Mrs. Peters devoted much of her personal time to typing copy and working with us after school. Mr. Wahl and the business staff were responsible for the advertising section and capably handled all financial matters. They also managed the sale and distribution of the books. Mr. Sylvan Pinto, Josten Company Representative, assisted us with the color section and made suggestions on the book's design. Mrs. Peters' journalism class was responsible for the underclass section and helped with the identification of pictures. Gradler Studio provided outstanding photography and developed pictures taken by the staff. We are especially grateful for their prompt service. A special thanks to Mrs. Joanne Bauman, Laurel Valley art teacher, for her art work on the division pages. Rusty 212 •
