E Everything Went Our Way Homecoming is always more fun if the team wins and if there is no rain to spoil half-time and if a lot of people go to the dance. This year all of that happened. The Basset Bengals went home defeated, for October 10 the weather was unusually warm, and when DJ Connie Payne started the records playing in the cafeteria there was standing room only. Tradition dictates most of the activities leading to Fri- day night. There was Kiddie Day, Dress to Impress Day, Country Western Day, Blue Magic Day and finally the one we've done for years - 50's Day. Most of the par- ticipation was on Blue Magic Day when everyone was asked to wear our colors and on Country Western Day when heads sprouted cowboy hats and feathers and plaid shirts replaced sweaters with jeans. Representatives on the court were Susan Young for the eighth grade, Clarissa Hodge for ninth, Lori Eanes for tenth, and Terri Smith for eleventh. On the Oueen's court were Denise Morrison, Janette Campbell, and Beth Donovant. Audrey Gravely was chosen as Princess, and Shelby Taylor as Homecoming Queen. .X if Audrey Gravely hears her name and smiles shyly - after she is crowned she gives a Princess' smiley her escort is Glenn Gravely. . 5 Homecoming 45

Split end Travis Millner breaks through the hoop before the game. Contestants Sing Hooray for Hollywood What does a queen say when she finds out she's about to be crowned? Hot Dog were the words heard from Lisa Carter when she won the Laurel Park Beauty Pageant. Lisa described the pageant as very exciting and un- believable. The setting was a tour bus in busy Hollywood. All of the contestants sang and danced to Hooray for Hollywood. To go with the theme, Ticket to the Stars, each contestant wore an informal outfit and then a gown, telling her name and her favorite person in Hollywood. Practice took place for about a week from 5:30 to 7:30 with the supervision of Ms. Molnar and Ms. Lurz. Approx- imately 30 girls entered, their entree fee going to the Athletic Boosters. 46 Student Life Wearing the crown of Miss Laurel Pa is Lisa Carter. ll!
