You think to yourself, Doesn't a teacher have time to teach? After all, l have to stay in this classroom fifty-five minutes - that should give a teacher plenty of time to teach. First thing in the morning and the last thing in the afternoon are announcements. There goes five minutes of class time. A teacher is asked to record attendance in at least two places - the gradebook and the white atten- dance card. For two periods dur- ing the day, first and third, atten- dance is also recorded on color- coded cards. Now, after recording atten- dance, the teacher is free to teach. Maybe. Sometimes Jane has a restroom emergency and the teacher must stop to fill out a yellow hall pass. UTeachers have it easyg they already know it. This is a very familiar quote from many stu- dents, no matter what school or what age. Whether you are a teacher or the observant student in the classroom, this is probably heard at least two or three times a day. Learning material at the begin- ning of the year is mostly review to you and also the teachers. As the year goes by, more and more is taught and it becomes much harder to learn. That's when this famous quote usually comes in handy. Tests on top of tests and quizzes on top of quizzes seem to keep piling up. One teacher said, UAfter a while, taking the tests and grading each paper sometimes becomes a hassle. But you keep on pushing because no matter what you do or try you'll always be learning, whether it's old or new things.
