Library Club Presents Bicentennial Minutes Before and after school, during lunch and club meetings, in the library, in the lunch- room, any time, anywhere you just might have run upon a couple of chess players, completely engrossed in a game Some of the games were just for fun. but the club also maintained a competitive chess ladder that kept track of who was best and who played next. For the first time, the club was able to compete with other schools and won their preliminary match with F-C Lack of funds kept the Library Club at home this year, but they were by no means dormant The club boasted its largest mem- bership in years with the majority being 8th graders. Ms Betty Shankle felt that the youth of the club were an asset saying that the club should be viable for many years The club held their annual teacher appreci- ation teas in December and May The club planned as a public service for National Library Week the presentation of a Bicen- tennial Minute each morning.
