Laurel Park’s First Football Queen Representing Laurel Park High School as its 1970 Football Queen in the Martinsville Christmas Parade, Miss Florence Crenshaw (right) exemplified the active spirit of Lan- cer students. Florence, a junior, acquired the honor of becoming the school’s first queen by selling membership tickets to the Athletic Booster’s Club. Her attendants were likewise chosen from the eighth, ninth, and tenth grades as they sold the largest number of tickets for each respective grade. They are below, left to right, Susan Pace, Tyrelle Ferguson, Florence Crenshaw, and Denise Dehart.
