■ 'v. y w men PRECIOUS MOMENTS Whether it be making friends, getting good grades, a champion- ship game, or that special person, we all will cherish our own precious moments. FRIENDSHIPS 1. Cheryl Perry and Cassie Bernard catch up on the latest gossip. 2. Claudia Donegan, Tina Lunn, and Laurie Hall take a break from the game-a-thon. 3. Lisa Cook, Sue Venasco, Jodi Turk, Todd McCallister, and Brian Shaw. Three of these things belong together, and two of these things don't belong anywhere. In Loving Memory of our Dear Friend and Classmate Wendy Lesnett July 14, 1969-July 23,1986 What we would give if we could say that we will go and see you today. To hear your voice and see you smile. To just sit and talk awhile. To be together in the same old way. To reflect upon the sweet memories we have shared. Life hasn’t been the same since you were taken away. Death is a heartache no one can heal. Some may forget you now that you are gone. Only God above knows how much we miss you. But you will remain within our hearts forever until we join you in heaven. — Laurie Hall i I I I Future Plumbers of America: L-r: Cindy, Tracie, Lisa, Jodi, Tina. Bottom: Craig, Susan, and Laura I can see you are attached to each other. Come on Hadji, shove it in there. It's like this, you mess with me, you deal with The Turk. Come on girls, we know your favorite place is the halls, but do you have to lay in them? 10 It's a joke, right! You really don't want me to eat this. We all have different ways of enjoying our lunch. 11 I had no idea! You mean I need a pass? You really shouldn't work so hard in Biology. Brian Dean, can't you find a seat? Stacy Stuart, Debbie Swauger, Jan Williams waiting for dismissal Beth Majeski and Howie Murphy. Beth are you giving Howie the cold shoulder? Mary Ann Kosek, Maria, Laura Rogan, Barb Pursell, Cindy Crawford, and Brian Shaw come out to support the team. Cristy Fedigan, Lori Dean, Tracie Wimer, and Sue Venasco cheer for the team. Sue Venasco and Tracie Wimer. Tracie, what's so shocking? Maria, as she is called by all her friends, is from Bilbao, Spain. Her American home is with the McVicker family. Maria has many interests in America. She enjoys cars, teachers, school, and boys. She has met many new friends and will always be remembered by them. I want to thank Laurel School for admit- ting me and to say thanks to all the students in Laurel because they are really very nice to me. 32 TRI-COUNTY NORTH CHAMPIONS The 1986 football season was without a doubt, victorious. 7-2-1 The Spartans opened their season by winning their first six games. The Spartans were then defeated by one point against Avonworth and Mohawk. Sure enough the Spartans came back and defeated New Wilm- ington. The team then traveled to Farrel where they tied the eventual WPIAL Champions. After winning their remaining season games the Spar- tans found themselves preparing for the playoffs, once again. The Spartans were fortunate enough to have home field advantage for their first playoff game. With community support and much determination the Spartans pulverized the Fort Cherry Rangers, 23-0. This led the Spartan fans to Mt. Lebanon Stadium to take on the California Trojans. The Spar- tans played a very tough game, despite their heartbreaking loss in over- time. The Spartans brought home the Tri-County for the second year in a row. Besides an outstanding record, the Spartan team had many individual standouts too. Coach George Miles claimed his 100th victory mark. Doug McCoy reached 1,000 yards. Doug was also named MVP as a running back. Kirk Hunt was named MVP as an offensive lineman. The first team section all-stars from Laurel are Mike Bailey, Doug McCoy, Kirk Hunt, Rick Conard, and john Skiba. Second team all-stars are Mike Crawford, Len Rich, and Eric johnson. Honorable Mention was awarded to Chris Mus- quire, Mark Wolmedorf and Bill Anderson. Congratulations on a very fine season! Coaches: Front: Bob Miles, Head Coach George Miles, Dennis Stach. The cool, October evening marked Laurel's Homecoming festivities. Many students eagerly awaited the night when a new Queen would be crowned and an exciting game would be played between Laurel and Avonworth. Despite the heavy rainfall, many students took part in this tradition at LHS. The Sophomore attendants chosen to represent their class were Sharon Woods and escort Bill Davis and Rhonda Sager and escort Kevin McKeever. Also, Junior attendants were Debbie Bintrim and escort Donny Kuzma and Kitty Henneman and escort Eric Maitland. Finally, the Queen candidates chosen by the Senior class were Cindy Crawford and escort Joey Fredrizzi, Lori Dean and escort Todd McCallister, and Sandi McVicker and escort Todd Ritchie. There was also an Honorary Member of the court. This was our foreign exchange student from Spain, Maria Zamorano with her escort Brian Shaw. The pre-game program was cancelled due to the heavy rainfall, but the Queen was still announced. Minutes before the Half-Time Announcement, the couples waded to the fifty yard line. The moment we had been waiting for arrived and the new Queen was to be Sandi McVicker who was crowned by the former Queen Amy Blinn. The following night, a semi-formal dance was hosted by the sophomore class. The theme for the dance was “Island of Dreams. The decorations were Hawaiian style. Entertainment was provided by a D). Also, refreshments provided by the 72 sophomore girls were served. 1986 Homecoming Queen Sandi McVicker Cindy Crawford escorted by Dan Sindlinger H 0 M E C 0 M Debbie Bintrim escorted by Ricky Conrad Lori Dean escorted by Chris Shevitz Honorary attendant Maria Zamorano 8 I 1986 Homecoming Queen Sandi McVicker escorted by Ken Imler Kitty Henneman escorted by Sharon Woods escorted by Steve Alan Collins Deinert 1985 Homecoming Queen Amy Blinn escorted by David Campbell C 0 U Rhonda Sager escorted by )eff Ehko 73 The 1986 Prom was held at the New Englander on Saturday May 2, from 8:30 to 12:00. There were pages to complete, ads to renew, and deadlines to meet. We would like to thank our talented staff for mak- ing this yearbook a success. They were dedicated and hard working and enabled us to meet deadlines because of those traits. We would also like to thank Mr. Rich and Mr. Adams for allowing us to go get ads. Judi Hohmann and Bill Slease did a great job this year as junior Editors and really make our jobs less difficult. Tricia Michels, Laurie Hall, and Karen Thompson typed the copy work and did a fine job. We would also like to thank Susan Venasco for her work with advertis- ing. Brian Shaw, Becky Hennon, Lisa Cook, and Todd McCallister deserve a special thanks for their fine job of photography. Most of all, we would like to thank Mr. Croach for his guidance and patience with us throughout the year. Once again, thanks! Advisor, Mr. Croach; Senior Editors. Whal do you think lockers are for guys??? 106 Tim Richardson tries to make the play! As we reach out our hand The diploma we grasp. While we think of the memories Of the years in the past. Tears fill our eyes Because it's all gone We're starting a new life. We have to move on. We hope friends will keep in touch As the years pass us by. Although it hurts inside, We'll try not to cry. Now we've reached the end We are going away, How do you say goodbye To friends who mean so much? Will there be time To honestly keep in touch? You'll always have the memories Of your school years from day one. Don't think of school ending. Think of a new life that has just begun.
