Cathy Gilkes is our A.F.S. student from Barbados. She is residing with Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Nene. She is pictured with her American brother and sister. Doug and Diane. Cathy's likes are water skiing, swimming, and McDonald's. At home she has two sisters. Her future plans are to further her education and become a Computer Programmer. Cathy likes living in the United States, because it is easy for her to understand things because where she lives they speak English too. Cathy enjoyed watching the trees change colors and the snow fall because she never saw it before, only in pictures. The average temperature in Barbados is 78 to 80 degrees. Barbados is very small and has only one school and one college. The students study mostly all academic courses so that they can get good jobs. Her life style is different in Barbados, she goes to the beach every day and out with friends every night. Cathy has been visiting many different colleges to see where she wants to further her education. Cathy 16 Dedication Though your presence is no longer with us. Remembrances of you are forever instilled in our hearts. Even though we cannot fully understand. We know that this is part of God's plan. You shall always be remembered for the friendship you shared.
