PHYSICAL EDUCATIO A. Tuozzo demonstrates one of the many tumbling stunts in gym. Physical education is an integral part of the total education of an individual. lt is the aim of this pro- gram to enhance the total growth and development of a student through physical activity. Physical Edu- cation encompasses the development of basic skills of body movement, basic sport skills, and games that include individual and team sports. HO E ECONO IC The Home Economics program is designed to help students to develop and exercise competencies in family care and management. lnstruction is provided in the areas of foods and nutrition, handicrafts, child care, health and safety, housing, home care of the sick, home management, and relationships within the family. The well-being of our communities and of the world depends upon the well-being of the family. No experience so permanently affects the individual as that within the home. From the home, the individual gains the deep-seated ideals that determine his growth and help him to achieve a happy, wholesome life. The family continues to be the basis of our society. E. INDUSTRI L RT The Industrial Education program reflects the liberal and practical approach to the meeting of individual needs. The structure of offerings and the manner in which these offerings are taught enable the learner to increase his understanding of himself in his relation to productive Work. Through the disciplines of in- dustrial education, there is a gain in insight into the problems and processes of the production of goods. HE LTH First aid is the immediate and temporary care given the victim of an accident or sudden illness until the services of a physician can be obtained. First aid training is a valuable home and community resource at all times. Such training helps the individual to prevent accidents and to care for himself and his family when accidents do occur. T. Hayes and G. Browning practice giving artiiicial respiration. Officer Ritter lectures on driving safety. Mrs. Lee plays an important role in the Health program of LHS. DRIVER EDUCATIO Essential to the safety of all drivers is the proper training of the young driver. Driver education offers the individual an opportunity to learn and to apply the fundamentals of safe driving. Mr. Tyler presents Coach Burak with the keys to the driver education car. 53
