STUDIE The social studies program provides for the under- standing, skills, and values that make a good citizen. These courses, including world history, United States history, world geography, and problems of democarcy, are intended to familiarize students with the history, laws, customs, and economy of the United States and other nations. Through experiences and study, the individual develops an understanding of his rights and responsibilities as a member of society. Students in the fourth period P. O. Students make impressionistic drawings while listening to music. M. Marsh accompanies music students in song. Individual expression is essential to the production of a well-rounded personality. Art classes offer the creative student an 'opportunity to project his ideas. Art is an important part of our cultural background and leads to an appreciation of the finer things in life. Everyone is creative to a degree. The degree is dependent upon many factors. but the main factor is MUSIC The music education program provides opportuni- ties for individuals to develop an appreciation of music and to gain experiences in both individual and group activities. Students develop socially, intellectually, emotionally, and creatively through music. Because students do not respond alike, a program of varied activities has been arranged. As a fine art, music helps young people to develop an awareness of beauty. It is an effective means of communication of emotions, ideas, and images. RT experience. Experience in art must be as varied as the materials used. The aims of art education include teaching the individual awareness of the world around him and teaching him to express what he sees, feels, and thinks in his own Way and through many art media. R. Hand, P. Whitehead, E. Brookrnan, J. Ingram, W. Beard, and G. Gardner admire a product of the art class.
