IN MEMORY OF MR. RICHARD STERRETT The loss of a beloved teacher and friend is felt by all who knew and admired Mr. Richard Sterrett, driver education instructor at Laurel High School for fourteen years. Mr. Sterrett came to Laurel in 1939 and operated the Ben Franklin store until 1950. In September, 1951, he was employed by School District Number Seven as a driver education instructor. He was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Police Judge and Justice of the Peace. He held these positions until August 1, 1965. At that time he resigned and took a full time teaching position as driver education instructor. Shortly after this he passed away. We count ourselves fortunate to have shared in the life and work of Mr. Sterrett. Although he is no longer with us, the memory of him will always remain in The Halls of Laurel.

t As the Greeks of old, whose victors were crowned with the leaves of the Grecian Laurel, may the graduating class of 1966 go forth as victors from the Halls of Laurel. May you continue to be victors over ignorance, prejudice, intolerance, incompetence and all things that cause man to be common. May you so live that, with pride, each may say I REMEMBER LAUREL. Hallways and corridors are designed and built for movement from one place to another. Likewise, each level of your education is the passageway to the next. As you leave the hallways of Laurel High School to go your separate ways, may you always set worthy goals and find the right hallway to attain them. 6
