In the year, nineteen hundred and fifty-seven, our class entered LHS as students for the first time. The backbone of our class was Mr. Ventch, and supporting officers: Fred Feuerbacher, President; Jim Giblin, Vice-President; Ken Price, Treasurer; Carol Schardt, Secretary; Jane Huntington, and Don Nottingham, SAC representatives. The annual Sadie Hawkins dance we held was a huge success. Gayle Burke and Philip Frank were our Daisy Mae and Li'l Abner candidates. Thus ended our first year; and our first impression on LHS. During our second year of high school, our slate of class officers were: Larry Fujio, President; Philip Frank, Vice-President; Fred Feuerbacher, Treasurer; Jane Huntington, Secretary; Bob Wetch and Pat Cantrell, SAC representatives. Mr. Thurn and Mr. Bennet were our sponsors. Our Junior year was a busy one. This year’s candidates for the Sadie Hawkins dance were, Rosalind Herman and Don Robertus. The Laurel Leaves candidates were Joe Hoppel and Virginia Ulshak. Our Junior Play, A Date With Judy, was held December 3 and 4, and was ably directed by Mr Chester Blaylock. Other money-making projects were: the Sadie Hawkins dance, and a bake sale, held in December. The result of these projects and our hard work, was our Prom, South Pacific, held May 2. Supporting us during this busy year were: Philip Frank, President; Pat Cantrell. Vice-President; Sharon Frank, Secretary; Judy Gutschmidt, Treasurer; Carol Schardt and Virginia Ulshak. SAC representatives; and our sponsors, Mr. Bennet, Miss Morgan, and Miss Miles. During our final year, we were sponsored by Mr. Bennet and Mr. Koski; and staffed by: Jim Coulter, President; Jane Frank, Vice-President; Sandy Whitfield, Secretary; Virginia Ulshak, Treasurer; Judy Gutschmidt, Rosiland Herman, and Ron Eslinger, SAC representatives. In place of the traditional Sadie Hawkins dance, we held a Sweetheart Ball, February 13; and crowned as our queen, Carol Schardt. Other activities included our class play, The Big Blow-Up, coached by Mrs. Nell Gamble; and our Class Nite. Leaving many happy memories behind us, we Seniors graduated May 26, 1960 - the fiftieth class to do so from LHS.
