foreword In this annual are recorded the laurels both large and small acquired by the student body in 54. We, the staff, believe that the greatest laurels of this school are the graduates sent out to make their mark in the world. In accordance, we have featured the most visible progress of our educational system, the buildings. The first school building (pictured on the inside covers), was moved in to the comer of Fifth Avenue and Main in 1900. The first high school was built in 1908, on West Seventh. It is now the North Side Grade School (pictured on the fall division page). There are two other grade schools, the South School and the new East School—completed last year. This year the latest addition to the high school was completed. It adds ten new classrooms and administrative offices. The LAURELS expresses its appreciation to Mr. G. W. Fenton for the pictures of early school buildings and information concerning them.
