flifarclzing Band Flashy half-time performances is one of the accomplishments of the marching band. During the football season they entertained the fans with a variety of shows during the halves of ball games . It is composed of seventy-five students and director, Mr. Gerald McCollum. Marching in the Chuck Wagon Parade, Halloween Parade, and Santa Claus Parade have been some other activities of this band. Twirlers FRONT ROW: KLeft to Right! Concert Band Symphonic Suite , Black Velvet , Overture and Allegro , Entry of the Gods , and Knightsbridge March are a few numbers which the concert band has played this year. This sixty piece band, composed of cornets, trombones, bass horns, baritone horns, French horns, bassoons, clarinets, saxophones, oboe, flutes, and percussion has participated in contests and have provided con- certs for the public . Under the direction of Mr. Gerald McCollum, the band has played on the Open House Program and the Christmas Program. The high lights of the year for the band are the Spring Concert, which is held in March, and the Music Festival, also held in the spring. itll!! ill. l V Pep Band Entertainment is the main purpose of the pep band. This group, composed mostly of reeds, brass, and percussion, has a stock of swing and jazz music. The sixteen mem- bers and Mr. McCollum, director, add much spirit to the basketball games .

Vocal Department Activities The Girls' Glee Club has participated in the Winter Concert, the annual Spring Concert, and the music contest. The Girls' Sextet has also participated in the concerts and have gone to the music contests at Warrensburg and Columbia. In addition they have sung at different civic clubs . The Boys' Quartet has sung at the Winter and Spring Concerts and participated in the music contests . The glee club, sextet, and quartet have sung a variety of music. The types of music they sing include spirituals, religious, classical, and semi-classical numbers. These groups are under the direction of Mrs . Margery Wright, head of the Vocal department.
