National headquarters located at Cincinnati, Ohio, received our petition in January, and on February, 1949, granted a charter to our high school the first to be granted for outstanding dramatics stu- dents in the history of our school. On March 29, at a public assembly, Mr. Roger Williams, former Harvard faculty member, and later a member of the U. of A. faculty conducted the initiation ceremony for seventeen candidates. M. Williams, organizer of the Blackfriors Dramatics Club at the U. of A., the oldest dramatics society in the state of Arkansas, concluded the cermeony by addressing the students on the cultural advantages of dramatics as a regular part of the high school curriculum. The following students were the first regularly elected officers: Farrel Eubanks, presidentg Bill McElwee, vice-president, Gayne Prel- ler, secretary, Preston Hooker, treasurer. Mrs. Charles H.
