The purpose ol the Activity Club is to give recognition to students bringing honor to their school through extra-curricular activities other than athletics. Members of the Band, F. H.A., F. F. A., Glee Club, Science Club and Student Librarians are eligible for the Activity Club. CL B Officers are Ann Weatherly, president, Clara Stanton, vice-president, Vic Bethea, treasurer: and Virginia Bryant, reporter. The purpose ol the Bloclc L Club is to give recognition to students Fi L who have excelled in athletics. To earn a letter, a student must play an average ol one quarter each game. The annual banquet was held in November featuring the theme Sports in Season. Officers are CL B Joyce Coleman, president: Sissy McMillan, vice-president, Shirley Nor- L il ton, secretary: and Walker Graham, treasurer. Coach Leon Maxwell is sponsor. The Library Club of Student Assistants is a service club. The mem- bers serve one period each day. Without these faithful workers, the library could not function successfully. The Student Librarians are eligible lor membership in the Activity Club alter two years ol service. The Science Club, formally known as The Knights of Science, meets Iour times a year lor lectures or field trips. This year the club visited ,fx the University of North Carolina and Dulce University, and sponsored 4.5 the annual Science and Math Fair. The Senior Class successfully presented Rest Assured as its annual l - W play in April. This distinctly different comedy paclced a laugh-a-line, but it also carried a fine lesson. Warren Fore and Randy Lane por- trayed heavy character roles with ability and finesse. The 16 Seniors in the cast agree it was much work but more fun. To them it will ever Y be a cherished memory. Louisa Mae Alcott's Little Women was the Junior Play for the Class of 1959. Portrayed in authentic costumes in an appropriate setting, this play will long be remembered. The performance was ably .. - coached by Mrs. Elizabeth King. The four Little Women were Meg, Sally Manning, Jo, Paula Dew, Beth, Marian LeGette, and Amy, Sissy Y 1 s McMillan.
