i4si- A f Q ' ie 'fl Slanding: XXV.-XLKER, FORTUNE, G. CAMERON. SI'l1ffd.' Bckxs, Hoocsox. THE STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council began its second year of existence under the leadership of Harold Hodgson. who was elected Senior Prefect. Burns and Gordon Cameron were the other Sixth Formers, while Fortune and lValker of the Fifth Form completed the Council. So far the Student Council at Latin has not produced much in the way of benefit to the school except for making a few decisions concerning minor details, but it is hoped that future years will bring better success to this undertaking, which was originated last year by llr. Northrop. The feeling of most of the fellows toward the members of the Council is similar to that of a conquered race toward a tyrant. They feel as if their dignity was greatly marred since they were placed under the jurisdiction of fellow classmates. Kloreover, the Council members very often feel that, if they use their power to the best advantage of the school, just as they should do, the other boys will think them overbearing and tryannical. Consequently little or no just punishment is dealt to violators of the rules, for no one wants the reputation of having over-taxed his Z1L1fl'lOl'lIj'. However, the best days of the Student Council's rule are yet to come: for, when the present Sixth and Fifth Formers have graduated, the boys succeeding them, having grown accustomed to the authority of the Council, can have no prejudices which will prevent the proper functioning of the group of fellows called the voice of the student body. Then, let us hope, the proper co-operation so necessary for such an undertaking will be foundin abundance. G. C. Paar 73

VVe have tried our best to make an annual Q I which will leave behind us a lasting impression of our class. In our efforts to improve Q I the book, we have adopted a cover which is distinctly different from any design previ- E T ously used by our school. We have increased the number of snap-shot pages. and have N added several group pictures. In general. we have endeavored to produce a Sigillum 1 .v which will be'a credit to the Chicago Latin School.
