' ' Q. . - f .4 il si 1 4 SECOND FORM HISTORY This turbulent aggregation had its inception some nine years ago when, in the days of Bear Stories, Poop-Poops, and Saint Nicholas, it was carefully pampered in the kin- dergarten on East Division Street. And therein hangs a tale: had they at that time been scattered to the far reaches of the earth, life for their unfortunate counsellors in the years that followed would not have been so devastating. Unfortunately, in the tall of 1927, this care-free. hectic, and tearing gang came upon an obstacle. Not only were they saddled and snaffled, but they were ridden, and after some opposition, buck- ing, kicking, and snarling, they were led sympathetically to the corral of learning where they were free to expend their energies in the happy pursuit of knowledge. Here they were not only given full rein but also found stimulation and encourage- ment. The once riderless, outlaw band was now a staunch, solidified body eagerly searching and consuming such information as they were directed to. Their energies unsubdued were lustily feeding on the material placed before them. To think of Form II as docile, calm, or unenergetic is impossible. Their bounding natures forbade any 'fsilencen as such. The querying buzz of their hushed voices was a delectable music. Here was youth-power-in a harness that guided and checked without stifling. Every class room has its drudgery-but Form ll was different. YVell aware that there is a time and place for everything, it carefully put drudgery in the place and gave humor its time. VVho can forget the teahounds ? Sandy's laugh and his pondering sense of humor? Remember how he would finally see through a joke or wisecrack five minutes after we had concluded? And Shotwell's never-failing retort. lVho recalls Nimrod, Cushy, Rancho, Loud lVIouth, the Sheiks, Fish Face, Dirty Hands, and Beans? VVho could beat you all laughing? XVhat happened at French Lick? Who was the diligent, quiet student who spent his evenings at the movies? You haven't forgotten YVings and his tormentor? Nor Spaghet, Sophy, the athletic twins, Baby T., or the Farmer? Can lVIohr analyze? lfVho was the playful boy?- and don't forget 'KRatty and Poop-Poop. How about laugh, aunt, half, and the potent expression, Dumb Twit? L'nfortunately this class is breaking up, but where each member goes, there too will the undying spirit'of Form II go. Carry on, and don't forget P. W. L. Page 49 L' -13' , 1...
