W In 1917 a rather tall, young fellow entered the first grade of the Chicago Latin School, namely Peter Fortune. He spent seven, long, lonely years, until joined by lanky Owen Trayner in the seventh grade. This duet waited only a year, until they were honored by the advent of VValker. Van Vlack, White, and Venard, who skipped seventh grade to be in our midst. Freshman year brought to our portals Samuel Duke Dunn and Bradley Casey, who entered our class in the middle of the year from Loyola. In the Sophomore year three very promising young gentlemen came to our fold, namely Nellis, lVeeks, and Xvhittier. Last, but not least. in this. our Junior year, came Herb Bundscho from the wilds of Oak Park. At the beginning of the year the following officers of the class were elected: Peter Fortune, presidentg Robert VValker, vice-president: Owen Trayner, secretary: Phil Van Vlack. treasurer. Although the Junior Class is the smallest in the high school, having twelve mem- bers, it contributed very generously to athletics. In football lValker, Nellis, YVeeks. Casey, Bundscho, and Fortune bent their energy to the making of a team. Basketball took the largest toll, eight out of the twelve being active in the sport. The heavy- weight team was bolstered up by Trayner, Nellis, Casey, lVeeks. Bundscho, and Fortuneg the lightweight team, by YValker and Venard. In baseball YValker. Venard. Dunn, Casey, Bundscho, and Fortune are striving for positions on the team. . Looking at the above, one would think only athletics concerns our class. But such evil thoughts must be erased from the unfortunate person's mind. for we have our intelligentsia in Fortune, YVeeks, YVhittier, Venard, and YValker. Also Venard and YVhittier lent a helping hand to the school orchestra, when it played, The above state- ments signify that we Cwe say so ourselvesj are the best class in the school. P. F.
