Freshman Basketball Ring Com Sports F,d See who is approaching majestically down the hall like a Leviathan, swinging contentedly in his hand the precious senior class elevator keyl How could any one mistake John Byron La Due, scholar and humorist? Johnny was born in a small town in Southern Illinois, only to develop into one of the far-famed Latin School seniors of vast and pompous dignity. Haverford will have the pleasure of guiding his steps further along the path of learning, and, if he keeps up his record for scholarship and good-nature which he first made known to us when he entered Latin in his Freshman year, he will be sure to be a suc- cess at the notoriously small college which he will enter next fall. l R I I- I I I I QII ii24fifi?g , r ' 'fi 4 1 . I hi FRANK CARTER NICHOLAS Freshman Football. Baseball, '2S. 3 1 1 N, ,. QQ.. 51 --1 L'YVell, I said that the first time, didn't I? Speaker: Frank Carter Nicholas. Scene: The home of ancient Greek culture. After a few soothing words from Teacher, the belligerent student is persuaded to take his seat. Yes, we must admit that Frank has the power of oratory and what is vulgarly known as sales resistance. Tallest and most sophisticated are two terms by which he is often described, but Nick will vehem- ently deny at least one of these so-called epithets. Although Frank was first brought under the Latin School yoke in seventh grade, he meand- ered off to Choate two years ago, and nothing was known of him until his return last fall. To do him justice, it must be admitted that Frank, who was born July 29, 1910, is one of the stars of the Virgil and Ancient History classes. He will pursue his search for knowledge at Yale next fall. Page 33
