THE ENGLISH PROGRAM COMMUNICATION LEARNED ANDAPPLIEL In today ' s modern world, communication through both oral and written means, is a necessity that cannot be overlooked. At the Latin School, a solid program has been established so that the students acquire a solid and well- rounded background in the art of communicaton. The Freshmen go through a basic course that exposes them to both literature and grammar as a foundation for the further study. The sophomores expand their knowledge of literature and grammar and include vocabulary and spelling into their basic program. The juniors and seniors more vocabulary and more spelling and also explore through the many forms of composition and the many ways in which communication can be achieved. Also, the jun- iors and seniors can take Speech courses which increase their capacity for organized thought and oral communica- tion. Mr. Waggoner (English I), Sister Emily Emmert (English II, III, Iv), and Mr. Joseph Pollman (Speech I, II) atempt to increase the students ' abilities.
