i' 66444 Qfwtofzq Old L. H. S. was amazed when it realized it was receiving such a large' Freshman Class September 6, 1951. The first day of four memorable years of high school for the class of '55. The first day of school, sixteen timid and green Freshmen approached with uncer- tainty their first year of high school at Latah. The roll call was Jackie Rhoades from Waverly, Dale Hirschel, Arthur Helmke, Carol Farrelly, Bill Wolf, Jim Janson, Jim Clausen, Janice Garber, Kermit Ellis, Dale Bippes, Alex Matt, Gary Schafer, Bill Crabb, Joyce Stapp, Walter Sexton, and Gary Osteller. The class advisor was Mr. Stanford. The first trial was initiation which we didn't like, followed by a party which we did like. During'the following summer, Walter Sexton went to Tekoa where he enrolled that fall at Tekoa Hi. Marilyn McBride became a member of our Sophomore Class when she enrolled in Latah. She retumed to Spokane the following Spring. Our major activity this year was. the Freshman initiation, which we devoted to mak- ing the meek Freshmen as miserable as possible. Mr. Stanford was chnsen as our advisor. We ordered our lettem1en's sweaters, and were well pleased with them. 'I'he members of our class were the same except Bill Crabb failed to return to school in the fall. Our Junior year proved to be a very active and successful year. We elected Mr. Latimer as our advisor. The thought of raising money was kept in mind so we could have a wonderful Senior Sneak. At basketball games we sold pop, popcorn, candy and apples in order to increase our class funds. Our class rings were ordered and we received them February 8. On April 30, we gave our play Take it Easy under the direction of Mr. Latimer. ln May, the traditional Junior-Senior Banquet was thoroughly enjoyed in the Palm Room of the Desert Hotel in Spokane, The most important year of our high school days, our Senior year, finally arrived. Mr. Miller was chown our advisor. The number of students in our class decreased when Joyce Stapp moved to Farmington and Gary Ostheller to Nine Miles. Seven members of our class, Bill Wolf, Art Helmke, Gary Schafer, Janice Garber, Dale Bippes, Jim Clausen and Jim Janson completed their 12 years of schooling together. We ordered our announcements in October. Christian Studio was chosen to take graduation pictures January 14. The class thoroughly enjoyed the day and the pictures. The outstanding event for the class of '55 was the publishing of The Bobcat, which holds pictures, stories that will be treasured memories for many years. The classplay was presented in the spring to a large and appreciative audience. The Juniors honored us with a delicious banquet in Spokane. Our sneak finally became a reality after much planning and work to make it possible Twelve years of schooling were completed with the Baccalaureate and Commence- ment exercises. The Senior class of '55 wishes the very best of luck to the classes that follow us.
