S. was amazed when it realized it was receiving such a large' Freshman Class September 6, 1951. The first day of four memorable years of high school for the class of '55. The first day of school, sixteen timid and green Freshmen approached with uncer- tainty their first year of high school at Latah. The roll call was Jackie Rhoades from Waverly, Dale Hirschel, Arthur Helmke, Carol Farrelly, Bill Wolf, Jim Janson, Jim Clausen, Janice Garber, Kermit Ellis, Dale Bippes, Alex Matt, Gary Schafer, Bill Crabb, Joyce Stapp, Walter Sexton, and Gary Osteller. The class advisor was Mr. Stanford. The first trial was initiation which we didn't like, followed by a party which we did like. During'the following summer, Walter Sexton went to Tekoa where he enrolled that fall at Tekoa Hi. Marilyn McBride became a member of our Sophomore Class when she enrolled in Latah. She retumed to Spokane the following Spring. Our major activity this year was. the Freshman initiation, which we devoted to mak- ing the meek Freshmen as miserable as possible. Mr. Stanford was chnsen as our advisor. We ordered our lettem1en's sweaters, and were well pleased with them. 'I'he members of our class were the same except Bill Crabb failed to return to school in the fall. Our Junior year proved to be a very active and successful year. We elected Mr. Latimer as our advisor. The thought of raising money was kept in mind so we could have a wonderful Senior Sneak. At basketball games we sold pop, popcorn, candy and apples in order to increase our class funds. Our class rings were ordered and we received them February 8. On April 30, we gave our play Take it Easy under the direction of Mr. Latimer. ln May, the traditional Junior-Senior Banquet was thoroughly enjoyed in the Palm Room of the Desert Hotel in Spokane, The most important year of our high school days, our Senior year, finally arrived. Mr. Miller was chown our advisor. The number of students in our class decreased when Joyce Stapp moved to Farmington and Gary Ostheller to Nine Miles. Seven members of our class, Bill Wolf, Art Helmke, Gary Schafer, Janice Garber, Dale Bippes, Jim Clausen and Jim Janson completed their 12 years of schooling together. We ordered our announcements in October. Christian Studio was chosen to take graduation pictures January 14. The class thoroughly enjoyed the day and the pictures. The outstanding event for the class of '55 was the publishing of The Bobcat, which holds pictures, stories that will be treasured memories for many years. The classplay was presented in the spring to a large and appreciative audience. The Juniors honored us with a delicious banquet in Spokane. Our sneak finally became a reality after much planning and work to make it possible Twelve years of schooling were completed with the Baccalaureate and Commence- ment exercises. The Senior class of '55 wishes the very best of luck to the classes that follow us. J l Wd! To Mrs. Janson, ten less hungry people to feed. To the students of L.I-I. S., we will, give and bequeath love, loyalty and affection for Latah High School, her heritage and traditions. Given under our hand, this the second day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand. nine hundred and fifty-five. The Great Seal of the Senior Class of 1955 The year is 2000. The place is Latah, Washington, The day, the forty-fifth re- union of the class of '55, The reunion was planned and organized by IIM CLAUSEN, the owner and manager of the world famous Hotel Aldorf Wastoria. The party is scheduled to begin promptly at 8:00 P. M. in the Crystal Ball Room of the hotel, At exactly 7:59 P, M. a long low red Rolls Royce stops in front of the hotel, and out steps the very dignified Chauffeur Pierre, better known to his classmates as DALE HIR- SCHEL. l-le opens the door for his employer, and we are shocked to see GARY SCHAFER, a famous chemist who is noted for the discovery of Worm Plasma used to cure itching worms. As we enter the beautifully decorated dining room we are greeted by the world famous butlerUIM JANSONy. We are quite shocked to see our old friend ALEX MATT, now the famous TV Cowboy Star Side Saddle Steve fof course he brought his guitar, tooj. Steve seems to be quite upset over the loss of his beloved horse Mattalex, but his sorrows are being brightened now, because the latest guest to arrive is KERMIT ELLIS, a very successful horse rancher from Kleenburn, Wyoming. Kermit has heard about the horse's terrible mishap, and he promises Alex that he will sell one of his horses bgim. I This wonderful animal is supposed to be able to travel as fast as 80'm. P. h. 1 andif Alex hasn't changed from his high school days ------ he will possibly be quite happyiwith -- its speed. A flash is seen and then a roar, everyone dashes to the window just in time to see BILL WOLF and DALE BIPPES step from their space ship, the Rainbow Streak. They have been making recent trips to Mars to represent the United States in Inter-Planer Communications, affecting goof apples of Mars. After removing their asbestos space suits, they go inside to be greeted by JANICE GARBER, the Head Receptionist at the Aldorf Wastoria. Janice went to work at the hotel after she quit the teaching profession, It seems that she couldn't stand the strain of having some of the little darlings in her classes throwing spit wads at her, putting live mice in her desk, and many other little mischievous things that the little angels will do, I As we look toward the door, we see ARTHUR HELMKE. The reason Art is so late, is because he was baby sitting with his seven grandchildren while his wife was shopping. Art fell in love with the most beautiful school. After finishing college, he opened his own Diaper Laundry Art's Diaper Service, and has been very successful in business. Of course his old L.l-I. S. buddies were good customers. Now that the members of the class have all arrived, we will leave them to enjoy themselves, as the years go by, may they remember many very, very happy class re- unions. lf' Martha Bixby - Henry Bixby - - Betty Bixby - - Binks ----- Marie ----- Elmer Hicks - - Beevy ----- Archie Pomeroy Andrew Grimes Helen Maxwell Ruth Adams - - Howard Wills - -L Martha Bixby - Henry Bixby - - Betty Bixby - - Binks ---- Marie ----- Elmer Hicks - - Beevy ----- Archie Pomeroy Andrew Grimes Helen Maxwell Ruth Adams - - Howard Wills - K4 Presented by Senior Class Directed by Collings Miller ---- w ll - - The Mother. - - - The Father. -Their daughter. -------Thebutler. - ------- The maid. - - Fresh from the country. - - A detective. - - -One of Betty's boy friends. - - Who claims to be a detective. - - - - - -Girl friend of Betty's. -Another girl friend. - - - - A boy friend. - - - Carol Evans - - Jim Clausen - - -Janice Garber - - - - -Jim Janson Pauline Pittman - - - - Bill Wolf - - -Dale Bippes - - Gary Schafer - - Arthur Helmke Carnie Klingbeil - - Irma Helmke - - - Dale I-Iirschel PAULINE PITTMAN CAROL EVANS 0 CLA SS OFFICERS IRMA HELMKE MARVINIANSON ff Mx ff A A cp, ,.. .,.
