©i©D(g ¥D(Q)ftD This year the annual staff chose to dedicate the 1988 Odyssey to the person whom we thought typified dedicated teaching at Lassiter, Mr. Jimmy Austin. He has been teaching for over 25 years at various schools and for the past six years has been a prominent figure in Lassiter ' s history department. Not only has his input been recognized academically, but also in activities outside of school, such as foot- ball. Not only was he a reknowned head coach at Wheeler High School, but in coming to Lassiter, has contributed his expertise of the game to the Lassiter coaching staff. Mr. Austin is known for his dedication and interaction with the students both in and out of the classroom. He was more than just a teacher, he was a friend. His accomplishments, as well as his memory, will not soon be forgotten. i 308 • O Due to our Split Image theme, the Odyssey staff chose to have the book dedicated twice. The second group of people that we feel deserves this honor is the student body of Las- siter High School. It is the students which made the school an exciting place to be. The size and spirit of the student body has increased and brought with it a stronger sense of pride for LHS. The 1988 Odyssey is comprised of the life of these people and would not be the book it is without them. We can only hope in the future that the pride and energy will grow with the school.

FAVORITE TEACHER Jeff Guy was voted favorite male teacher because of his abilities relating with his students. Jeff Guy was a football and baseball coach. He also was a teacher who students looked at for advice or just to talk to. Phyllis Boudreaux was named favorite female teacher because of her qualities as a teacher and a person.
