The 1987-88 Varsity Wrestling Team had another winning season due to their Mental Toughness and X-tra Effort. M.T.X.E. has been the Trojan motto since Coach Day first arrived., and has proved to be a motivating factor for the wrestlers. The Trojans started off the season with a 74-0 shut-out over North Cobb. They competed in the Cobb County Invitational and took home first place honors. Coach Day sent ten of his thir- teen wrestlers to the finals at the Trojan Invitational, winning first place overall. The 1987-88 Varsity Wrestling Team boasted an undefeated dual-meet season this year. They set a national record with their 78-0 shut out over North Cobb, truly an outstanding ac- complishment for a high school team. The Junior Varsi- ty Trojans won second place in the North Metro Takedown Club Tournament, with four wrestlers taking home first place honors. They also suc- ceeded in becoming Cobb County Champions. Through the leadership of Coach Day and Coach Guy, and the many hours sweated out at tiring practices, the JV Wrestlers continued the tradition of hav- ing another winning season. { 701 SS ' ?7t(
