INTERAXCT CIU3 O c T A G O N The Interact Club this year was co-sponsored by Mr. Franco and Ms. Lofe. As one of many service clubs, the Interact Club partici- pated in charitable activities. Competing in the Hospice Day bedrace and providing food for the less fortunate on Thanksgiv- ing were two of the many activi- ties which helped the community. The club also held a cleanup for the Lassiter stadium. Christ! The Octagon Club is a service club sponsored by Mr. Pines. Thi s year ' s activities included a dona- tion to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Foun- dation, a breakfast for the faculty of Lassiter, and Halloween stuffers donated to the Rose Garden School for the mentally handicapped in Cobb. By going to nnany school sponsored events, holding spirit fundraisers, and holding a create a cheer contest, this club built school enthusiasm throughout Lassiter. The German Club, spon- sored by Herr Craven, consisted of eighteen German students. Nu- merous doughnut sales, a pumpl in sale in Octo- ber, and a ski trip to Gat- linburg were among the activities of this year ' s club. Many charitable activities were accomplished this year including: Save the Children Program, Cobb Christmas, and work in the Food Pantry for Thanksgiving. A D D TMrTNm Students Against Drunk Driving (S.A.D.D.) dedicated many hours to in- forming students about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. Presentations were held at an assembly in the fall; in the spring, a slide show was shown to the student body. The organi- zation also gave several presentations to neighboring middle schools.
